First, to address the lion in the room, the build name is an awesome anagram. Of what, will remain with the owner.

Now, this was actually my second official build and as such, I took no pics during the build because it was also my first MITX build and the first I built for someone else other than myself (from the ground up, anyway). So I really wasn't thinking of taking pics but I did at the end and wanted to document this, thus here we are.

Now, said person is my good ladyfriend and I'm over there a lot so there was a good amount of selfish choices in this build. Mainly in the decision to use my own GPU that was originally in my very first custom PC (not built by me, so it won't be posted, also for lack of pics) and was in my own first build before I upgraded. The other big choice is on the CPU. I would have almost certainly gone with a G4400 because she is a very, very light gamer (old school console games/emulation and puzzle games now and again) and basically only needs this PC for MS Office, file storage, and the usual internet shenanigans. Though she does do some writing on Word and does a whole bunch of number headache inducing things in Excel of which I dare not speak of for I like my head not aching and numbers are the devil.

That's about all, it was a very simple build in conception and fairly simple for being my first MITX build. I really loved working in the Cooler Master Elite 130 and there is a whole lot of interesting and intriguing ways the case is used to manage cables and work around the lack of hardly any space. Of which there was still more than I thought there would be, but that isn't saying much; it is still very congested and tight fitting with a GPU. A fully modular PSU is a must unless you're some kind of wizard at cable management.

It's great knowing that she gets what she needs out of it and when she is being a grandma and sleeps at 11 PM, I can game until 3 AM on GTA V with moderate settings, emulate, and do my geeky gaming happenings with ease. I am still to this day blown away by how fantastic the GTX 770 SC is. Apologies for the lack of pics and the quality. Now that I'm fully immersed in PC building for myself and others, I definitely am of the mind to take pics during the build and to try and get better quality overall.

Part Reviews

Great CPU for intro to gaming as well as various personal computing of information.

CPU Cooler

This little hobbit of a cooler is seriously on a Bilbo level.

Awesome mother of the MITX boards. Nice to have built in WiFi and while it could use another fan header or two, it's got most of what you need for an intro MITX build.

This ballistic sport right here? It's crucial.

The go-to state of solidity.

Heart's best song, Seagate's best hard drive.

Video Card

This little mofo is going fairly strong in 2017. That is just ridiculous. GTA V on the lower spectrum of high settings with 50-ish FPS, or full on 60+ FPS on the medium-to-high spectrum medium settings (could that statement get more convoluted?). Absolutely awesome GPU that I will hold onto until the fans slowly come to a halt and the screen tears and... I... I'm tearing up. I'm going to stop now.

This case is really amazing for an MITX build with some great innovation in cable management. So much that certain features I think should be a staple in most MITX cases (like the "bar" that if used is highly useful and if you don't want or need it, can be easily removed; simple but supremely effective). It has great airflow and is of a portable size without becoming too cramped or edging into HTPC territory.

Power Supply

The golden super nova does it again.

I dunno, man. I'm running out of wit. It's good, okay? Real good!

Operating System

It's like... when someone brings you a steak and it's not quite your temperature but you don't feel like sending it back; and while you know you'll like the taste, you also know that it can be better and that you'll end up paying a little too much for what you got.

Sir we've got a situation here. Looks like someone has some contraband kittens...

TotalInsanity4 2 points 21 months ago

Also I'm gonna go with "Legal Silken Tit"

TioJorge submitter 6 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

Hahahaha I actually wish it was that now.

Very nice build. +1

As for my guess on the anagram - "Steel making" lol.

TioJorge submitter 6 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

Haha not quite. Thank you!

I wrote an anagram solving program last night. Would you like me not to give away your secret, because i will not do it if you tell me not to.

uberlizard 1 Build 1 point 21 months ago

you wily individual it's two words isn't it, my program is not designed for this.

TioJorge submitter 6 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

Haha it is indeed two words! I know that's bending the usual rules a bit but what can I say, I'm a regular rebel.

gosh darn you

I just bought this case and I cant wait to work in it! :D

Build is looking awesome man, good job! :)

TioJorge submitter 6 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

Thank ya kindly! It's really fun to work in; absolutely did not think there would be any options for cable management and there were a handful of them in the case.

AttackCommanderChief 1 Build 1 point 21 months ago

I'm gonna have to take those kittens as "evidence"...

TioJorge submitter 6 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

You'll never confiscate my kittens, copper!

Blackangel 1 point 20 months ago

Cool build. New to this site...what was the time frame in which you built this system? Seems pretty involved?

TioJorge submitter 6 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

Thanks! This one was my first MITX build and I wanted to make it as cable managed as possible, which was pretty dang tough. It took me about 3 hours or so but I should note that I take my time and am much slower than most builders even now that I'm on my fourth build and am very comfortable with parts in general and building. A lot of people seem to boast about building fast or how fast they build it and that's great and all but taking your time ensures no issues or having to backtrack.

But you could easily build this in an hour or less even as a newcomer if you were so inclined. It's not too much work outside of cable management and routing, making things look aesthetically pleasing, which is by far and away the most difficult part.

dzaakir 1 point 19 months ago

can i ask, how many fan headers are there on the motherboard?

TioJorge submitter 6 Builds 1 point 19 months ago

1 cpu fan and 1 system fan. Definitely get a splitter or a multi hub if you want extra cooling for a small chassis.
