This is my first build. So far I am very pleased with it. It is by far the nicest computer I have ever owned. My previous computers were both hand-me-downs, and macs. For now this will be mainly used as a living room gaming PC, hooked up to my 55-inch HD TV.
The only things I am slightly regretting are the Motherboad and SSD. I prolly could have done some more research on motherboards and gotten a nicer one, but at the time I felt like $60 for this mobo was too good of a deal to pass on. For now the mobo functions just fine.
I also slightly regret not going with a larger SSD. After installing Windows 8.1 and the Witcher 3, this SSD is already over half-way full.
Overall, the build wasn’t too, too difficult. Since it was my first time though, I found myself having to redo certain parts of the process (ex. Forgetting to use the back plate for the input jacks when installing the motherboard). The CPU cooler was also a hassle to install (took me nearly an hour).
Found a Windows 8.1 Pro code for pretty cheap on a shady website, but it seems to be legit.
Also, I got The Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight both came free with the Video Card. Since I would have bought these games anyway, I consider that a $120 discount on the GPU.
Overall I am extremely happy with this build. I have overclocked the CPU a bit, and I am still trying to learn how to OC the GPU properly, I have boosted it a bit, but I am being very cautious because I don’t want to fry anything. Right now I am running The Witcher 3 all Ultra with Hairworks on Geralt at a pretty steady 50 fps. But any tips on safely OCing my GPU would be much appreciated.
