Description

This is my first build. So far I am very pleased with it. It is by far the nicest computer I have ever owned. My previous computers were both hand-me-downs, and macs. For now this will be mainly used as a living room gaming PC, hooked up to my 55-inch HD TV.

The only things I am slightly regretting are the Motherboad and SSD. I prolly could have done some more research on motherboards and gotten a nicer one, but at the time I felt like $60 for this mobo was too good of a deal to pass on. For now the mobo functions just fine.

I also slightly regret not going with a larger SSD. After installing Windows 8.1 and the Witcher 3, this SSD is already over half-way full.

Overall, the build wasn’t too, too difficult. Since it was my first time though, I found myself having to redo certain parts of the process (ex. Forgetting to use the back plate for the input jacks when installing the motherboard). The CPU cooler was also a hassle to install (took me nearly an hour).

Found a Windows 8.1 Pro code for pretty cheap on a shady website, but it seems to be legit.

Also, I got The Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight both came free with the Video Card. Since I would have bought these games anyway, I consider that a $120 discount on the GPU.

Overall I am extremely happy with this build. I have overclocked the CPU a bit, and I am still trying to learn how to OC the GPU properly, I have boosted it a bit, but I am being very cautious because I don’t want to fry anything. Right now I am running The Witcher 3 all Ultra with Hairworks on Geralt at a pretty steady 50 fps. But any tips on safely OCing my GPU would be much appreciated.

Very nice gaming build. These are some good part choices.

From what I've heard, MSI Afterburner is a pretty simple program that'll help you OC your GPU.

For the record, I've got the Witcher 3 installed on just a 7200rpm HDD and everything loads pretty quickly. You could free up some of the SSD space moving that install over.

Great build ! it reminds me of my first gaming rig! Watch out Gaming rigs are like Tatoos once you get one you want another! :) But on a more serious note great work!!

Not too shabby.

And yeah, Afterburner is a good GPU overclocking software.

Good luck!

Hey bro nice build! digging the lights aha. You can also save some space if you don't use hibernation on your computer. Its not much but 6GB of space on your ssd is reserved to a system file called hiberfil.sys. You can turn that off in elevated command prompt with powercfg /h off

I am a fan so far, and it looks dayum sexy too. Only slight issue I had was with the little rubber doors on the cable-mgmt holes coming undone sometimes when trying to thread cables through it. But this was more of an annoyance than an issue. I almost got the red version, but I felt the Blue on black was calling to me. The front two fans are the CoolerMaster LED fans, just FYI.

I think so. Seemed a bit shady at first, but I haven't found anything saying it is illegitimate or illegal. It is a real Windows key, and it worked for me.

I don't know if it will work for an MSI card but I use EVGA Precision X. You can get it on Steam or from EVGA.
