Description

Case was gutted out due to a faulty motherboard and we decided to choose amd over intel for the rebuild. The old proc, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2.66GHz, is actually still good, as I tested it out in a similar desktop, and it performed well without any issues. Changing the build to AMD also gave me the option to increase the max ram from 4GBs to 8GBs and upgrade from DDR2 to DDR3. Also, trying to find a LGA775 socket motherboard with the correct specs, for under $100 was a almost impossible. If I could find a mini itx LGA 775 motherboard, then I will reuse the processor and whip up something fancy. Anyways, the build itself was very painless and I am impressed with the overall speeds achieved using the AMD FX-6300 proc. Hope you enjoy the pictures with some coffee.

You will have no regrets, the FX6300 will walk all over that Core 2 Quad. +1

Lol I had the same motherboard and CPU! If you can try and get a refund on the board and get a better one, was terrible.

Also, the PSU isn't really that great. But if it works for you, that's what matters. ;-)

I knew the PSU wouldn't be overloaded for an office pc running a couple of programs, so I went with it.

Cool :-) Its not really about the wattage, but the CX series are just low quality in general. They also have bad coil whine, even when the PC is off, have you heard any weird noises coming from it?

Not yet. I'll keep an ear open when I unleash it to the wolves.
