Description

All the prices on this computer are from the invoices of the sites i bought them off of and i subtracted the mail in rebates. All of the temps under load were taken while running prime 95 and furmark. There is also gray smudges on the PSU but they are not there in the PSU only picture or real life so i don't know what caused them in the other pictures. This is also in my unfinished basement but the air is really cool down there so i don't mind. The computer is also sitting on a step up workout thing so it doesn't get dust from the carpet.

Now i will talk about why i chose each part.

CPU: I got the 8350 because i multitask a lot and i record and if i get better internet i will stream and the 8350 is the best at streaming. I only have the stock cooler because i am not going to overclock yet. The last reason i got the 8350 is because i got it when it was on a big sale and i couldn't pass it up.

Motherboard: I got the extreme 9 because of all the features it has and it will allow me to overclock in the future. Another reason is that it was cheap for the amount of features you get also it has a raid controller which i will use in the future when i get more hard drives.

Ram: I got this ram mainly because it was on sale also it is 2400 speed. Another reason is because it has only 10 cas vs some off the other ram at the same speed has higher cas and the ram itself is not huge so if i decide to get a big air cooler i won't have issues with that.

Storage: The reason i chose this hard drive and not another one is because it was so cheap and that it is really fast for a hard drive but i didn't know this when i bought it. It can boot up windows with all my start up programs in 30 seconds or less plus i have 8gb of ram caching to it so it is pretty much a faster sshd and it is 2tb so i have a lot of time before i need more space.

GPU: I got the 7990 because it is a beast and it was extremely cheap. It can max out all of my games with crossfire disabled. The main reason i got it was to future proof my system because in 4 years i still want to be able to play many games at high settings. It really doesn't draw as much power as i thought running prime 95 and furmark at the same time it only draws a max of 730 watts but that was a spike the average was around 600 watts and it has the duel bios button.

Case: The main reason i got this case is because it has amazing air flow and will keep my computer cool for long periods of gaming or video editing. It also has hot swap bays which are extremely useful i don't even have to connect any cables to the hard drive itself also it has blue led's which blue is my favorite color and it was on sale.

PSU: I got the XFX because it is a re-branded seasonic and you cannot go wrong with a seasonic PSU. The main reason though is because i don't my PSU always working hard so i wanted to get some spare wattage and it also allows me to overclock both the GPU and CPU which i would do if i got a custom water cooling loop but most likely i am going to only overclock the CPU.

Optical Drive: I chose the asus because asus is a reliable company and i rarely use my disk drive so i didn't want to spend a lot of money on something i rarely use.

If you are planning to overclock in the future, I suggest getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo or a Xigmatek Dark Night II CPU cooler.

Nice build. +1

I don't think Mantle will have much effect on the top high end cards like the 7990. Maybe a 5 fps boost. Of course this is my personal opinion

you're probably right but the fact there is a boost of frames by anything more than 1-2 is what i see as pretty decent as it was not intended in the initial purchase

sorry to burst a bubble here but mantle only works with the new Hawaii GPU's.

Mantle works with 7 series cards. The new Hawaii cards series have the same architecture as the old 7 series cards.

for coolers i'd reccomend something like a be quiet shadow rock/ dark rock. they are silent and beat good 120mm closed liquid coolers by quite a bit when compared in performance ( h80i) .
