Description

Couple weeks back, my old laptop died. It was a trooper. Had it through around 8th grade, and with me in my Senior year, I figured it was time to build myself a nice computer which should power me through college.

So far this machine has exceeded my expectations. Managed to put it together in just a few hours after getting all of the parts. Next thing now is to find a larger desk to stick everything on, as right now, my tiny desk isnt really cutting it, haha.

The screenshots above are when the CPU is clocked at 4.4Ghz.

Part Reviews

CPU

Very powerful processor. Stuck it at 4.4Ghz with no problems at all. A beast of a processor.

CPU Cooler

Keeps temps nice and cool. Fans are a but loud when maxed out spinning though.

Motherboard

Nice and tidy motherboard. No complaints from me.

Memory

Ram is ram, and this ram was good ram.

Video Card

Very nice card. Lots of diaplay ports. Should last me for a while. Love that the fans dont move when under light/no load, helps keep things quiet.

Case

Really nice case. Small and compact for easy moving of computer. Extremely customizable, allowing you to have the layout that you want.

Power Supply

PSU makes a slight whine when it is under load. Nothing too bad, just slightly annoying.

I hope you cleaned that excess thermal paste. Also you might want to change out that power supply. Great build though! And nice overclock you've got on there

Yeah, it was left there from when I stuck the stock cooler on to test the post :P

And I kinda regret not getting a fully modular, so I might upgrade some time soon.

Alot of reviews says the msi is better than the asus, check it out if you dindnt buy it yet

Seagate doesn't have a high failure rate, I am tired of seeing this BS myth being spread around still.

So you are saying the blackblaze study is accurate even though they brought used hdd's from random people and put them in server racks and are using some hdd's that are almost 4 years odd?

Backblaze also acknowledges using drives that were known RMA's, and refurbished, in the sample pool.

Backblaze packs 45 HDDs per enclosure for maximum storage density. While the drives are initially exposed to vibration from their neighbors inside the server, once placed into the rack, they are exposed to even more vibration from other servers. This creates the 'perfect storm' of vibration, and the use of consumer drives results in horrendous failure rates, as evidenced by the data from Backblaze.

the drives were subjected to workloads well beyond their design limits.

Agreed. I didnt start reading the poor reviews about the Seagate until already purchased, so I might just grab a WD one soon. Also I want to not use an SSD, as the other computer I have uses an SSD, and I find it more annoying to have to change the installation path every time I want to install an item, and I dont think the speed improvement is worth it too much in my books. Thanks :)

Keep the Seagate, it is just as reliable as WD.
