Description

This is my very first build. After 6 months of research I finally pulled to trigger to switch from console gaming to PC gaming. My life has never been the same since.

This build was always intended to be overclocked. With that in mind I kept it a bit budget. (8 months ago it cost me about $1700)

I will be adding a second card next year when the GTX 880 or higher (Maxwell) cards launch. The 670FTW will be used as a dedicated PHYSX card at that time.

This machine plays: Battlefield 4 @ 87fps average on extreme setting. 1920X1080p. Boarderlands 2 @ 102fps average on extreme settings. 1920X1080p. Skyrim @ 115fps average on extreme settings. 1920X1080p. ....you get the point.

I'd work a little bit more on the cable management, otherwise nice build.

The case has crap for cable management. It was for my home use so it doesn't bug me much. When I upgrade to the Maxwell chipset for the GPU next year I will be upgrading the case to something better. Thanks for commenting!

Nice build! I would consider upgrading to a Corsair 400R. Those have the best value and features. Also, I would upgrade to a H100i as a cooler. Best closed loop cooler ever. Furthermore, I'd grab a batch of Noctua 120mm fans to keep it all cool. Lastly, I will gladly take that 670 off your hands when you upgrade. LOL! Great job for the money!

Thanks! LOL, I think the 670 will be great dedicated PHYSX card. Yeah the case has to go. Thanks for the recommendation. As for the H100i I am putting in a custom water loop once I get the "Maxwell" GPU next year. I will have both the GPU's, CPU, and Ram water cooled. Going with a Koolance syetem.

Nice. Also look into XSPC for the loop. Their Raystorm waterblocks and res/pumps(D5 Photon) are beast looking.

Wow they do look good. Thanks again for all the recommendations!

No problem! Glad I could help! :)

Also, don't water cool the RAM. That's the biggest waste of money that offers no upgraded performance. Only cool the CPU and GPU. Plus, without cooling the RAM, your loop will be simpler and more efficient.

Wow those benchmarks make me feel good. I just bought a mini itx build with same proccesor a MSI R9 Hawk and a Maximus vi impact in the prodigy. Think it will get similar performance? Also im cooling with a nh-d14 and my ram is g.skill ripjaw. Anyhow awsome build +1

I'm not familiar with how the MSI cards overclock. I'm curious to see how your build and over clocking goes. Thanks, this is my first build and its cool to see people digging it.

The hawk is supposedly the easiest gpu to oc on the market,"supposedly", anyway ill be sure to post my build here (completed builds)
