This is my 4th gaming build. instead of building to a budget I tried to pick the best value for performance parts
and you definitely succeeded, perfect balanced build +1
its balanced i guess but what would have made it perfect is buying one of those ssds and getting a 2tb hdd.
nah chuck em in a phat raid 0 setup and destroy read/write speeds
Unless you only play 1 game I'd seriously consider getting a HDD
thanks lachie, I only play a couple of games at a time, and have all data on NAS. usually I uninstall games if i'm not playing them, so 250G is heaps for me, iv'e never gone past 120 (my last build had 2 x 60G). at the moment the SSD's are in raid 0, however after some research i found there is no real world advantage to have them in raid 0, but also no disadvantage so they will stay that way. but if could build it again I would probably opt for a single SSD. The plan was to also make it easily up-gradable, which is why I installed an 850 PSU, so when the time comes I can just throw another GPU in. I intended to buy a 960 since it's only pushing 1080p, but the 970 was on sale
Hi how is the motherboard
The motherboard is perfect for me, it was the starting point for the whole build, it overclocks like a boss. I had the z77 version in my last build, ran a 3570k at 5Ghz, this one Iv'e had to 4.8 but didnt think the extra voltage increase was worth 300Mhz. It will do 2 way SLI but not 3 way as the bottom 2 PCI slots are reduced to 4x when populated. I figured by the time I need 3 GPUs I will be ready for a new PC anyway
I am taking a survey and asking everyone what their serial number begins with I am looking for trends as to which boards serial number are BAD I have found that some boards start with a 46 47 48 are BAD My serial number starts with a 48 PLEASE HELP ME thank you info found on reddit post here http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/2jrt1b/psarequest_possible_reoccurring_problem_with_the/
No problems yet, gets used daily. I regularly move it to the TV so it gets unplugged a lot, I've also changed the PSU since it was first built
Ok think you
CPU fans facing the wrong way!!
This is the only configuration that will fit. I'm not too concerned considering it can hold 72 degrees stress testing at 4.8 ghz with 1.35v
By looking at the pictures you do have room to move the left fan to the right
The ram offsets the fan too far to clear the side panel, even with low profile ram it doesn't clear
So in the last picture i see u can close the case.
The Noctua NH 15D fits normally in this case? It closes normally?
