Status: Build Complete!

This build will replace my 2010 Mac Pro which I currently use for gaming and Lightroom RAW photo editing. My Mac Pro is still a great machine, but it makes little sense for me to continue using OS X as my primary OS when I spend a large amount of time gaming in Windows (Bootcamp). Constantly rebooting to a different OS depending on what I need to do is a huge hassle so I'm looking to move everything over to Windows.

Mac gaming has come a long way since I started using Macs but it still has a long way to go, and I seriously doubt we will ever see the day that OS X becomes a relevant gaming platform given Apple's direction with the newly announced Mac Pro and continual focus on mobile devices and notebooks.

Storage Strategy:

  • Samsung #1 - OS, Applications
  • Samsung #2 - Steam Library and other Games, Lightroom Catalog/Previews/Working Photos
  • WD 2TB - All other data (processed photos, music, videos, etc)
  • WD 3TB - Windows 8 File History backup target

Already Owned Parts:

  • GTX 680 (Mac Edition)
  • Monitor
  • Keyboard
  • Headphones
  • Speakers

This is essentially the same build I plan on making with some differences. I am curious to how yours is holding up so far? Did you OC?

I haven't yet OC'd yet but it has been holding up just fine with no problems whatsoever. Sorry for the late reply I haven't logged in here for a while :)
