This is my first PC I've built! Any tips for improving it are greatly appreciated! Let me know if you guys want more pictures or something :)
Build Date : 26NOV2016
Build Name : Project Luminescence
The PC stays nice and cool while emitting light, therefore, I thought Project Luminescence was a fitting name.
I built this PC back in November but didn't have time to take photos since I had to take the rig with me back to college right after Thankgiving. Also, the custom cable extensions from CableMod did not arrive at home until after I left and I didn't want to take pictures without them (also the stock EVGA cables are ugly).
If you have any questions at all about the build, please ask in the comments below or send me a private message.
Thanks for reading!
I wanted something powerful enough for the algorithms we run in my security classes in college and also something that I could encode video with when I occasionally create video content. This works great!
The Corsair H100i v2 is really, REALLY quiet and it keeps the CPU at great temps!
The ASUS Z170-A was the motherboard of choice for this project for no reason besides color. I thought the white highlights on the board and my good experiences with ASUS motherboards in the past were reason enough to get this board (also it had good ratings).
I originally wanted to get Dominator Platinums for the project but I ended up going with a 4 x 4 GB kit of Crucial Ballistix Sport LT's to match the white color scheme I had planned to use.
Besides the programs I need for video/photo editing and coding, most of this 1 TB SSD is taken up by games. Load times have never been a problem since I started using this rig.
I've been saving money ever since the GTX 780 came out and I really got interested in building a PC (about 4 years ago) and Pascal just seemed like the right time to spend the money I had saved.
The one part of the project that kept me from spending my money, the case. I researched high and low for the perfect case for my first PC and finally settled on the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Acrylic (the normal Pro M had a window that was too small for my taste). It has the perfect price for the features it supports and will be a great case should I decide to add a custom waterloop.
Just wanted something with a 80+ Gold rating and something that would support custom cables from CableMod.
