Description

My goal was to use only used parts from CL, Offer Up, EBay and FB Marketplace and stay under $350. I accomplished that and this is what came from it. The case and hard drive I got from a computer that I purchased that had another X58 mobo and cpu in it that are worth a bit more then I paid for the whole system which is why I marked those as free.

Part Reviews

CPU

1st gen i7 what else is there to say? This particular chip is D0 step so should go 3.8 or 4 pretty easy on air, although I'll probably sell this setup before I overclock it at all.

Motherboard

Decent X58 mobo. Can only handle 1st gen i7s unless you do some soldering work. Easy bios for overclocking though.

Case

This thing was first released in 2008ish I believe. Basically no cable management options but it did come with a blue LED fan so there's that. I got it for free so 4 stars!

Xeon x5650 + and you'll notice a massive fps boost.

Oh yeah for sure. This board is a Rev. 1.0 and it's my understanding you have to do some soldering to the board to run any of the Xeon chips. I have a UD3R board I'm doing another build with that will be running either a W3670 or X5650.

i7 930 with a noctua nh-d14 at stock, not pulled the trigger on the upgrade yet. Take a look at this, massive performance boost across the board and VERY cheap. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Xeon-X5650-vs-Intel-Core-i7-930/m355vsm79

Ok nice. Yeah the build I'm working on right now will probably use the 5650, can't beat the price and performance. Just need to get rid of this build so I can finish the next one.

So far really well. I haven't benchmarked any yet but just from playing runs them well. I did check PUBG and at medium settings this system ran it at 40 to 60 with a few dips.
