Description

I believe that everyone should actually pay it forward or at least want to be that type of person. To see that smile on someone’s face when you give them something that they actually need is beyond words or feeling, sometimes you break down with all of the feels of onions rubbed in your eyes but it is worth it.

My sister and brother-in-law have been there for me over and over again, giving me things I couldn’t give myself. Like food and a roof over my head many years ago when I had only a car to live in. They have taken me in so many times when I needed it the most. Even to this day where I am able to stand on my alone they still help out when they can so this is how I am paying them back.

They have always owned OEM computers since I have known them (I mean since they have been together); eMachine, Acer, HP, Dell, all of those companies that give you something in the computer area that barely gets by, this is only my opinion of course, I have had them all as well since I first owned a pc in 2001 until 2012 when I build my first one on my own.

They usually found them used at yard sales, craigslist or through trades, I believe only once they purchased one brand new and it was an Intel Celeron eMachine. Celeron’s have been their life for the longest of times, they once owned an AMD K6 and my brother-in-law still feels it was the fastest PC he has owned since, currently he has a 2.8 Intel Core 2 Due lol

Anyways, enough ramblings and backstory, I don’t want to bore you all with my poor grammar and words.

I am in position to start giving back so I am doing this for them. I decided to go with an AMD APU because they don’t really game but if they did, this would be able to do what they wanted. It may not be the best of the best but it will do exactly what they need and want from it for many years to come. I might eventually find a GPU for it if they ever need one.

The amazing AMD has helped me out with some parts (APU, RAM, Case), along with the awesome Gigabyte (Motherboard). A lot of love and credit goes to them for all their help in this project, thank you!

The rest of the parts I of course purchased, all of the prices at up to date. I hope you enjoy the thought behind all of this as they clearly did. :D

The Reveal Story My sister (Kelly) came over to visit without Brother-In-Law (JP) so I had to think fast on how to get it to him. I told her that I needed to go to her house to hook up my computer because something is wrong with it and I need JP’s help.

When we arrived, I told him the same story, so after a bit he started to get things ready to hook it up, unhook PS3 for HDMI cable, moved chair over to TV area for PC to stand on because everything wasn’t so adjustable for moving in the area. I told him “yeah there is just something on the desktop that I can’t explain,” which is the wallpaper I made for the build. He powered on the PC, it loaded quickly, he read the wallpaper and just couldn’t handle the feels. It was quite emotional for a few after that. I think this counts for more than all I wanted. All the feels my friends!

*Notes:
(2) PSU Doesn't give many ports so I had to use a molex to sata adapter for the HDD's that he has and will install.
(3) The PSU is the best budget PSU out there! :) It may not rate 10 on JohnnyGuru but it's still good for what it is. I and friends have all owned a few of them without a single issue.

Thank You! Gigabyte AMD AMDRTP

Update 1
I added a screen shot of their responses. Enjoy

I always enjoy APU builds!

Excellent case decision and very solid cable management.

You might get a lot of hate for that PSU, but IMO, for what this rig's purpose is, I would say its fine. +1

iwalkwithedead submitter 15 Builds 4 points 41 months ago

Yeah me too, nice little chips.

Thank you, I did the best I could with the cable management, it of course gave me a headache lol

Very nice, in whatever respect you think I mean ;)

I have to wonder, how did the companies end up getting involved in the build?

I am part of a small group called AMD Red Team Plus, we are advocates of AMD. Please check out our website www.redteamplus.com to learn more

AMD loves helping others! You can go almost anywhere and find them helping someone in need. I as well love helping others and do more than that outside of tech. :) So that was easy for AMD to help me help others. Gigabyte is an awesome AMD partner that loves helping as well.

I hope this all helps. My name is Daniel or iwalkwithedead, you can find me anywhere online with that name.

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

Really awesome to see someone paying it forward :D

love the build and the journey you went on to produce it +1

P.S. is this a reference to the movie "Pay it forward"? because that movie has all the feels. (and an amazing message)

iwalkwithedead submitter 15 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

Thank You

I have always liked helping others but the movie did help me kick that in to high gear many years ago. :)

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

All I want to do after watching that movie is just go out and do good things for everyone

st0necoldd 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

Nice.

Just out of curiosity... have you ever thought about maybe getting a job or something? You seem very smart--

iwalkwithedead submitter 15 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

I am a selected volunteer of AMD Red Team Plus.

I have anxiety but I do have a job helping support my mentally challenged brother :D Full time care taker.

Here is his build that AMD Red Team Plus done for us before I joined the team. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/mwQV3C

Another Excellent APU Build. Well done dude!

I am so tempted to build an AMD ITX Build. :P

iwalkwithedead submitter 15 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

lol mITX

lolorigin 2 points 41 months ago

This is one of the reasons I love AMD APU builds.

iwalkwithedead submitter 15 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

:D Thank You, I love them too

Vaylorthesecond 1 point 41 months ago

did you have to use a lot of force to get the X bracket for the CM hyper 212 cooler to screw onto the standoffs?

iwalkwithedead submitter 15 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

Not a lot but yes some. This is the 3 EVO I had the pleasure to install. You just have to get the screws in by a small turn or two, then work on the others the same way. After that, of course, screw them in completely in the correct manner.

He helped for a few moments by throwing me screws, then he started to throw them on the floor :/ lol He's funny, name is Sirius

He helped me for a few seconds, then started swatting screws onto the floor and playing with them, which did not help me. lol Then he stopped caring and went back to staring out the window.
