Description

My first PC build. The main things I was aiming to do with it are gaming and photo editing (Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop) followed by general pc use and software development (maybe running an Ubuntu VM if I decide not to dual boot). My plan is to upgrade my monitor to a curved ultra wide but I'm probably going to wait for the HDR curves to come out.

Stunning display. Inwin looks like it might have cases with wood on them soon. Maybe keep an eye out for them ;)

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Yeah I saw those the other day on HardwareCanucks. A little too late now though as I'm probably not going to rebuild.

Dovah17 3 points 2 months ago

Love the build, basically my dream build. Link to the wallaper and other like that one?

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks. Here is the wallpaper: https://free4kwallpapers.com/no-watermarks/originals/2015/07/15/minimalist-deer.jpg

I found it originally by googling "minimalist wallpaper"

luisjone 2 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

+1 Well done Sir. RBGs but tasteful, indeed a rare sight.

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks and I agree. I think if you are careful RGB is a great way to breath new life into a setup and even an entire room that would normally require an expensive rebuild/redesign.

Dave_6 2 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

Wow, that's a stunning setup!

I'm not into wood setups, but ur setup looks really nice :D great job. Maybe consider drewing a hole for the keyboard cable.

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks. I just can't bring myself to put a hole in the desk. I'm hoping that when I upgrade my monitor I can do something about that cable then.

+1 for the wooden keyboard rest, makes it feel classy

This is a great build

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks. I got the keyboard rest from massdrop if anyone is interested. It's the NPKC Wooden Wrist Rest https://www.massdrop.com/buy/36602

Dang, I have to be a member to look at the products, but thanks for showing me

Ametista 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I love everything about this build! Which camera did you use?

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Thanks. The camera was a Nikon D810 using three lenses. The Nikon 85mm f1.4, Nikon 14-24 F2.8 and the Nikone 50mm f1.8.

soccerkingpilot 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

I appreciate you taking proper photos. People spend $4,000 on a computer and can't be bothered to hold their iPhone still when they take a photo!

bradgnoyes 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Great looking setup. Get some cable combs for those gpu and psu cables! Such a well taken care of setup deserves those combs!

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Good idea, I didn't know about those. I'll look into them.

bradgnoyes 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

They're just little things but they go a long way to keep your build looking tidy. Check out my builds if you want to see how they look. I use different kinds on each one.

Nice clean beautiful setup!

kreegz 1 point 2 months ago

I envy your neatness...

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Haha, some of that neatness may have come from taking the photos.

HOW ARE THE TEMPS

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I don't check the temps that much but I haven't run into any issues there yet. We'll see what happens when I upgrade to a higher resolution monitor later on.

Camden92 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Aesthetically pleasing :)

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks

soccerkingpilot 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Did you make the wrist rest?

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Nope, I happened to find the wrist rest on massdrop. It's a NPKC Wooden Wrist Rests https://www.massdrop.com/buy/36602. It was hard to find them elsewhere so that is where I got it. I think you can find some on Amazon though.

Hey just a question; I'm looking at closed loop cooling, and I was wondering why you chose the NZXT Kraken over a Corsair Hydro or similarly priced one. How happy are you with its performance? So far has it been worth the cash? I heard that Corsair has better quality control and possibly better or equal performance. It does look damn good with that infinity mirror though.

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

So honestly the number one reason why I chose the Kraken is because it just looks really really good. That said, from all the research I did before buying, people seemed to be happy with it and the performance was also quite good from reviewer benchmarks. So far, I think its great. No temp issues, not crazy loud, and it's probably the best looking closed loop cooling system available today.

EXCELLENT overall look and match of that setup, no pimp or extras needed, I just wished the case was black to pop those yellow/wood tones more, but nicely done indeed, cheers! SUperb great job for a first time, EnJoY!!

JackOfSpades789 1 point 2 months ago

I really love the rustic vibe your build is giving off! Speaking of which, have you heard of the wood cases In-Win was demoing at Computex? I think one of those would look really good here!

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks. Yeah I saw those a couple days ago and thought they would work great here. I don't see myself rebuilding at this point though.

digil 1 point 2 months ago

Get some cable combs and that will be one of the cleanest builds I have seen. Really nice!

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Someone mentioned that and I didn't know about them. I'm going to be getting some though.

Norcla 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Looks amazing and super clean! Well done! :)

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks

jin0425 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Wow, how can your first build be so clean and sleek?!! Do you have any resource( a YouTube video guide or something similar) that you used to build your computer?

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I watched some videos of builds using this case (usually reviews). Some from bigger YouTubers like HardwareCanucks and BitWit, others from people just posting about their build. There are a few videos I found where the person recorded their entire S340 elite build which was helpful. Another very helpful thing I did was find pictures of peoples builds here on PCPartPicker where they used the same parts to see how they wired things.

jin0425 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Oh thanks! I guess I should check those out for my first build too.

krapphlat 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I got wood, but seriously. Why does everything here look so organic! 1+

pattont 1 point 2 months ago

Any chance you would post a pic of inside the window at where you put the LED Strip? I absolutely love this case and your design choice!

Bojones37 1 point 2 months ago

getting the same case, noob question. What is the point of getting two different sized nzxt case fans?

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

I got the 140mm to allow moving as much air as possible. My assumption is that the more air moved supports better thermals.

TheProSeidon 1 point 2 months ago

Hey! Beautiful build! Quick question tho! What's the monitor you've got???

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

It's a Dell u2414h

stevetalkowski 1 point 1 month ago

Gorgeous build, and love the minimal RGB lighting. Combing through everyone's builds as I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on component orders myself.

GusHus 1 point 1 month ago

Very nice setup. I've got a question regarding GPU temps. I'm running a similar setup but with an Asus GTX 1080TI OC 11GB. The card is running very hot way above 70°C. I also have almost no air traveling through the radiator of the Kraken X62.

How do you keep your card cool?

Thanks

AsianPartPicker 1 point 1 month ago

May I ask what LED strips are used to light up the behind of the desk?

AsianPartPicker 1 point 1 month ago

Thanks

CrepOne 1 point 1 month ago

Awesome!

Vandros 1 point 1 month ago

I am going to attempt my first build in about 2 weeks. I love yours!!! I love this case and I have seen 120mm in other builds and 2-4 fans. Why only two and why 120 and 140mm? Thanks for sharing your build!!!

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Thanks. The top fan area can take a 140mm so I added it to get a bit more airflow. I have no idea how to fit more exhaust fans into the case. Definitely not sure how anyone got more than 2.

TRbarthvader 1 point 18 days ago

I know this using super old, but I just wanted to ask a question in hopes you would answer. I'm building a very similar build, and I can't seem to find solid white cables for the EVGA PSU. Did your c series cables work ok with your e series PSU?

CmdJarvis submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 days ago

Working great so far.

hesif 1 point 16 days ago

Beautiful themed setup +1
