Description

Needed a new gaming PC since I've been running on 2009 Dell i7-920 and wanted to step up. Play mostly GW2 which can be CPU heavy along with some EVE, Elite Dangerous, SW:TOR.

So far it's performing flawlessly. Unigen Valley benchmarked it at 68.5fps with min/max of 30/131.1 running DX11 on Ultra. The SSD makes Windows and game loading really quick. I might upgrade to liquid cooling later when I start overclocking, but I wanted to run stock for a while first.

I'm really happy with the look of the parts. The Corsair case is great for space and cable management. I love the drive mounting system. EVGA PS comes with cables for days, but being fully modular, I was able to use just what I needed.

Price came in below $1600 after rebates.

Overall, 10/10, would build again.

Memories... Use to play EVE when I had a potato set-up, FX4100/GTX550ti... That game became too much for me, so I switched to other MMOs, might go back to it one day and see how much better it runs with my new set up :3~ (btw we have the same CPU/GPU \o/)

Nice build +1.

How's the motherboard, run into any problems with it?

Looking to get the same one.

It's really nice. The connection points really let you place your cables out of the way, especially with the Corsair case I used. I like the feature set, and the ASUS suite of configuration tools is really good. It's just a really well laid out board.

The i7-920 is really solid. I was still able to run just fine in most games with medium settings. My son just upgraded to a new PC last year and then my wife got his old RoG laptop (which was pretty beefy) and I was seeing how good things would be with a new system.

The annual company bonus helped too! ; )

Nice build!!! Was just wondering what sort of temps you were getting with that cooler and CPU???

Sorry, just noticed your question. Under heavy load I'm getting mid to upper 50s on the CPU and mid 60s on the GPU. I'm not currently overclocked though.
