Description

I decided to preorder the Ryzen 1700x and Asrock x370 Killer motherboard.

Honestly I was expecting to take a performance hit in gaming yet its on par if not better in some scenarios than my 6700k. LEPA sent me the updated AM4 bracket as stated in their news announcement couldnt be happier with my past purchase of the aquachanger 240. I ended up getting a 960 Evo since it was only 20 more dollars than a 850 evo. I swapped out the ballistix ram for 16gb galax hall of fame ddr4 3600 set to 2933. I ended up selling my rx480 due to the mining craze and picked up a used 980ti since I couldn't find a 1070. I modded the p400 for a vertical gpu mount and think it looks pretty clean, hopefully vega improves in the mean time and Probably swap out the 980.

That decal though... How is your monitor mounted? Or not?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 4 points 13 months ago

Thanks.

That build looks dope. More pictures, please?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 2 points 13 months ago

more pictures to come once i get my AIO bracket and get that mounted

fn230 9 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Sounds good. :D

ConnorEllis98 1 Build 3 points 13 months ago

hey dude , awesome build! would you be able to upload some footage of you playing some games a fps counter? this build is beautiful and I am so torn between something like this or a i5 7600k and 1060.... once again suck a sick pc!

sokrey 3 points 11 months ago

what are the temperatures on that gpu under load and idle

rhali8 2 Builds 2 points 13 months ago

Absolutely beautiful. A nice hefty 3.9GHz overclock too. Great work! :)

+1

ThugginMcMuffin 3 Builds 2 points 13 months ago

does that speaker setup go up to 11? nice build man!

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Not sure what you mean

sorry, its a really bad joke lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xgx4k83zzc

hehehe gud meme

Deadly_M 2 points 13 months ago

Nice setup, Did you have any issue getting 4 sticks to run properly (early reports said 4 sticks were not happy at faster speeds) ?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

with all 4 ram slots occupied my ram will only run at 2400 instead of the XMP 2666. if i only use two slots it will run at 2666. Im sure future bios will improve ram compatibility as it seems very picky right now.

Deadly_M 1 point 12 months ago

Thanks for the feedback, still looking/waiting maybe ryzen 5 if OC is better.

Liclac 1 point 13 months ago

love that board. I wish that board is also available here where I live.

What is that speaker? and how does it sound?

TX3 is compatible with AM4? I am waiting my bracket from be quiet. But now the cooler itself is out of stock everywhere :( i'm doomed.

+1 btw

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

i believe any retention style fits as long as they dont require any special backplate. Speakers are Swan M10s they are great for me.

Liclac 1 point 13 months ago

I think I'll just wait the AM4 compatible coolers available on the market. I don't want to risk it. Thank you for your information :)

SuperSquishy 1 point 12 months ago

Cooler master will send you the correct mounting plates if you get ahold of them!

ziggurat666 7 Builds 0 points 13 months ago

Anything with FX clip style mounting should be compatible with AM4 allegedly, just FYI

Liclac 1 point 13 months ago

Well, but that's too risky, I'll wait for 100% AM4 compatible cooler. Thanks though. :)

HIL542561 1 point 3 months ago

dont do it. just dont. the new am4 coolers are THE SH#T compared to the AM3 ones.

(side note AM4 > heat pipes vs am3 =/> meh.. to uck vs 2014 intel stock heat sink ...ok had copper slug in it low profile no rough edges vs current i stock has no copper slug, and shorter than before!) if any thing your getting a great deal with a stock AM4 heatsink.

rcdsouza 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

I see your idle temp is a 60c, my idle temp on my 1800x is 50c with the h60 hydro cooler, and im thinking its on the high end.. i am aiming for 45c and under for idle temp. hopefully when am4 bracket comes in my h105 will bring down that idle temp

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Yea it idles high with the tx3 it's only a 92mm I'm just waiting on my backplate for my 240 aio

HamFather 5 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

I wanted to get that motherboard myself, liked the color scheme and the added wifi is a nice touch, but the price had me skeptical. How does it hold up, does it feel sturdy, any major issues? I see you got a decent overclock so that's a good sign. +1 overall, great job!

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Works good, looks great. Only issue I've had is the ram when I oc'd but I can't really stress test my rig till I get my aio backplate.

RedRageTNT 4 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Great OC on that Ryzen!!

Skimby 1 point 13 months ago

What is your desk?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Ikea bekant

Skimby 1 point 13 months ago

And what size would the desk be?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

I believe it's 63 in long and 31 wide

Skimby 1 point 13 months ago

Do you have more space then you need? I am asking this because i am thinking of getting the same desk but smaller.

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

It's plenty of space which is why I liked , I had a 47x28 or whatever it is linnmon and I didn't have enough room

mpr_do 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

did you have any issues getting it to post? also are those cable extensions or did you sleeve them?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 2 points 13 months ago

Cablemod extensions and No issues posting , I ran into stability issues when my ram was in xmp which forced me to raise voltages and loosen timings.

Nufious 1 point 13 months ago

Love the build ,i'm about to order an rx 480 , is the gigabyte worth it ?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks, I like the fan feature and leds however I don't really overclock my video cards, I've heard there are better models if that's what you wanted to do.

mined_diamond02 2 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Nice build! I'm just sitting here waiting for my Gigabyte GA X-370 Gaming 5 to put my R7 1700X together with an RX 480 in. BTW, how did you get these FPS, doesn't seem like what most reviewers show... not that I don't believe you...

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 2 points 13 months ago

i just use the ingame fps and glance at it every few seconds to see what im averaging at 2560x1080 its about the same fps i was getting with my 6700k

mined_diamond02 2 Builds 1 point 13 months ago

Alright, thanks for telling me. I hope I'll have the pleasure of such FPS soon as well...

PurpleDoctorfish 1 point 12 months ago

That's a sick desk set up! Solid build.

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 2 points 12 months ago

thanks i appreciate it

BodiXDDD 1 point 11 months ago

Can you change color of the led on the mobo?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

yes , but the board only has leds on the bottom heatsink.

Stanley_Ipkiss 1 point 11 months ago

LEPA AquaChanger 240 103.6 CFM Liquid, Is seriously compatible with am4 (?) It is that in its page says that it is not and in this page does not leave to choose when to select some processor of the ryzen family

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

http://www.lepatek.com/eng/newscontent/100/

you have to submit a ticket in order to receive a bracket took them about a week after launch to get mine which was well ahead of major companies like corsair and nzxt.

Stanley_Ipkiss 1 point 11 months ago

OK, I think I'll opt for the H100V2 I do not like to wait... Thanks for replying, good day.

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

mmm not sure if the v2 is compatible out of the box if i remember the only out of the box corsair was the h100i

RaiTheAries 1 point 11 months ago

How is the RAM benefiting you on the RIG? I'm building a PC for the first time, and thanks to my trip to NY, I was able to go to the Microcenter and hey the CPU for and a motherboard for free with its $100 off promotion. My next step has mainly been trying to figure out what RAM to get. So many websites are saying that the CPU scales off of RAM, but I want to know from the perspective of someone who already has the components before I buy.

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

there wasn't much a difference between 2400 and 2666 tbh i scored maybe 10 points higher in cinebench, and fps remained largely the same with not much gained at these speeds. Many say they have more gains with 3000 or 3200 ram. Id ensure the ram you do purchase is on your motherboards QVL list, if anything grab Samsung b die ram as many are having more success running at the rated speeds

Lucas_Sirbu 1 point 11 months ago

What do you think about the motherboard, I'm considering getting it for my ryzen 5 build

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

its a decent motherboard for the money, if you had extra go for the tachi otherwise i have no real problem recommending the board.

SurrexGaming 1 point 11 months ago

what mic is that how much is it and is it good

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

its a Blue Yeti, most people say its good and ive never had anyone complain about the quality over discord. It does pick up back ground noise as it is sensitive but you can adjust the gain.

sarahcenteno13 1 point 10 months ago

How is the inside of your pc case so bright and lit up?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

NZXT Hue + and Nikon D3200 50mm lens :)

SlickShoes17 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Could you tell me how you did the vertical mount for the GPU? I have the same case and would love to have the graphics card displayed like that!

Sweet build man!

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

I bought a coolermaster vertical gpu mount by ice wolf and used a dremel to remove the existing pci slots. Once I mounted the bracket I just used a pcie riser cable and mounted my gpu. It took me about 2 hours to complete and could be much cleaner if I had better sanding bits. Still think it came out great and haven't seen many p400's with a vertical gpu mount

nordicblue 1 point 8 months ago

Amazing little mod that I may have to consider, once I upgrade my card. a 770 doesn't deserve all that..lol.

Is the Killer fairly straight forward to OC on?

Thanks for sharing the build, It's very close to what I have coming, minus the GC and the X on the Ryzen.

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 8 months ago

Overclocking was pretty simple tbh just adjusted the voltage to fixed and set the manual clock speed, tricky part is getting ram stable with an overclock

nordicblue 1 point 8 months ago

Thanks!

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 8 months ago

No problem good luck with your build

addiv2005 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

can u include gpu temps please?

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

980ti with reference cooler was sitting around 80-83c load

addiv2005 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Ok that's a little warm but what about idle? Furmark provides idle info before you launch the benchmark

Pfffmayne submitter 3 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Not really sure but it idled warm tbh

addiv2005 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Oh. Mine idled at 30 C
