Description

This was the first build I ever attempted and it turned out wonder full. This wasn't a solo venture, my dad helped me build it after i picked out all the parts. I would recommend building a PC to anyone who ever asked. It took a little longer than I expected, most of that due to a a certain problem. That being the damn io shield. Holy **** it took my dad and I almost 45 minutes to get the motherboard in the case, most of that being because of how poorly designed the io shield was. After about 20 minutes I was about to just install the motherboard without the io shield, but after a while we finally got it in. After the motherboard was finally in the rest of the build was fairly straight forward. I was waiting to install windows because the SSD didn't arrive until the day after all we assembled everything else. I at least wanted to power on and go into the BIOS to make sure everything was installed correctly. So we checked all the cables and made sure everything was plugged in correctly and powered it on for the first time. No display. Everything appeared to be spinning and the lights were on so I switched the display to the MOBO and it worked. I then realized that you have to have both the 6-pin and 8-pin cables installed into the GPU for it to work. The following day the SSD came and I tried to install windows. It worked fine until it force restarted at the end of the install and I wasn't ready so it booted back into the windows install and I had to redo the whole thing again. But after that the build was done! All the games I have tried are amazing. Skyrim, modded with ENBs and it runs smooth at 60 FPS. FC4 at ultra is AMAZING. Heavily modded minecraft with a 64x texture pack runs at 500+ FPS. This thing is such a step up from my laptop with an i5-1880 or something like that. Overall I love this thing and am so glad I deiced to build one, as it was quite fun.Now i would like to talk about some of the parts.

The H100i is awesome. with no game playing I idle at like 25C. After heavy loads I have only seen the temp go up to around 45C. This cooler is truly a beast, there is a very good reason why you see it on alot of builds.

The MSI GTX 970 4G Twin Frozr- OMG this thing is a boss and I mean it . Man for the money this is by far the best card on the marked right now. After AMD releases there 300 line we will see then but for right now this is by far the best card. And I have zero coil whine, not even in the slightest. That might be due to the power supply, which I would also recommend to anybody.

Phanteks Entoo Pro- This case is wonder full, however it is big. I suppose I should have know how big it was but man is it big. I probably should have gotten a mid tower case, as everything would have fit fine in their but meh I can make due with this huge case.

Asus Monitor- Don't feel like typing out the model number right now so meh. This monitor does what it should for the price. Nothing to special, although the stand is a bit unstable and it will wobble a bit.

Again this is a great build. I am very proud of it, as I should be. Thanks for everyone's help on this sub, the community here is awesome, and I look forward to helping other people now as I am a member of the #PCMasterRace. The only thing I need now are some steam friends, as most of my friends don't see the benefits of a gaming PC, although now that I have this monster I might be able to sway some of them.

It took me probably a little less than 5 mins to install my i/o shield and mobo lol. What was the problem with yours?

A very nice first build!

I really like your build though, although I would like to know more about your struggles with the IO shield xD
