Description

This is my first build ever and I have to say it is BADASS. The CPU runs super hot but with the Corsair H115i It runs very cool So I overclocked it to 4.3 idling at 30 C stressed test it to 50 C. Asus Sabertooth motherboard runs like a champ! Easy to update and easy to setup! The Memory are amazing as well never a hiccup! ASUS gtx 980ti STRIX is crazy fast yet crazy quiet I will be running Sli by the end of this month. Corsair 780T is very roomy but yet has flaws like no wholes for the water cooler wires to go so having to route it at the power spots. Customizing the tower is really easy! The power supply is whisper quiet, No sound at all! Pros -VERY FAST AND EASY TO MANAGE. -OVERCLOCKING GUIDE IS JUST A CLICK AWAY. -RENDERS VIDEO AND PLAY GAMES LIKE A BEAST. -SOFTWARE FOR THE MOTHERBOARD, WATER COOLING UNIT, AND GRAPHIC CARD ARE EASY TO USE. Cons -THE CASE FANS FROM THE 780T AND THE WATER COOLER FANS SOUNDS LIKE A JET ABOUT TO TAKE OFF. -THE CASE HAS NO WHOLE FOR THE AIO WATER COOLER.

i love it , it;s a great build but why not wait on pascal to come out ? . i mean u can spend less on the gtx 1080 and get over double the performance and u would only have to wait 20 days . But yeah great build

double the performance

Nope. Even in NVIDIA's cherry-picked benchmarks, it only has 30-50% better performance than the 980 ti.

30%.

the 1080 is double a titan x where the 1070 is more powerful than the titan x also . so yeah i dont think that the 980 ti is more powerful than the titan x . You can also overclock the 1080 to over 2 ghz . It is also 3 times power efficient than the titan x meaning power consumption would be no problem

No. The 1080 is not double the performance of th Titan x. It's about 30-50% better. And the 1070 is approximat lay equivalent to the Titan x.

still less money

Less money? The 980 ti can usually be found in the low $500s, the 1080 is launching at about $700

1080 is launching at $600. 980ti's are ranging from low 600s to 700s.

The MSRP is $600, but it will probably be at least a month or two after launch until we actually see them at that price because of th high demand. The 980 Ti is usually about $550

Great build mate! It gets annoying seeing comments about Pascal, especially because this is an extremely solid build and will exceed nearly any expectations of yours, especially once you SLI. +1

  • 1 point

Yes I do agree, all the comments saying wait for pascal are annoying amd sometimes out of place. However for this build here I personally believe that not purchasing a second 980ti until after polaris/pascal relase would be a beneficial idea. Especially for the huge possibilities and information coming from the release this week. From the description I would believe that his setup is running everything that he needs. Even after pascal and polaris the 980 series will drop in price maybe allowing for a three to four way sli with the ti's

Any ideas on how low prices for the 980ti would drop to? Because the 1070 may be cheaper than the 980ti, allowing for some nice performance for those who haven't bought a new video card yet.

There has ben no mention of how much the 900 series would drop in price. The most common guess is around 15% on all 900 series gpus. For the 1070 it will be right around 360-390 USD at the time of release. From the results of the release (Yes cherry picked, but impressive none the less) it is almost certain that the 1000 series is much much better then the 900 series and that buying a new generation of graphics card would provide longevity and preformance.

Hmmm, dang. Well looks like maybe the 1070 or 1080 then... Thanks for the reply! :)

You should have waited a little longer, the GTX 1080 comes out soon. And it outperforms the 980 Ti by over 20% with lower power draw, more VRAM (8GB GDDR5X), and 16nm. I'm sure you already know this, but still, I would have waited. 1080 SLI would obviously have been than x2 980 ti.

Nice build though! + on custom cables & choosing X99

I know its a very bad timing to build my pc but the 980ti will have to do until the next ti series. the 780ti was a very good graphic card for awhile so that is why I went ahead and bought the 980ti!

Don't get me wrong the 980 Ti is great card, and 1080 Ti will definitely be worth waiting for, because it'll probably have 16GB HBM2 with even more insane ultra@4k gaming power. And then there's 2017, with Nvidia's Vega and like 16 tflops of single GPU raw computing glory. You can never have too many tflops aye.

Thanks for looking the 980 Ti looks beautiful at the moment! Sure the 1080 will dominate the 980 Ti but as for right now nvidia will sure develop more badass card that will dominate the 1080 as well. I will be waiting for that soon!

The 1080 Ti will probably be released either later this year, or early to mid 2017. This release date for will vary due to HMB2 availability and yields. Both Samsung and Sk Hynix will be manufacturing HBM2 for both Nvidia and AMD. The 1080ti will be monster for sure!

NVIDIA vega

Vega is by AMD

  • 1 point

Eh, type-o, I meant to say Volta. Both Nvidia and AMD's upcoming GPU-architectures happen to start with the letter P (Polaris and Pascal), and their next-next ones both start with V--Volta and Vega). Obviously just a coincidence right? Conspiracy theory time, Nvidia and AMD are both owned by some secret parent corporation, ok no, jk why would that be true?!

  • 1 point

Maybe AMD's price to performance is too good so NVIDIA names their architectures similarly to theirs, so that people get confused and buy NVIDIA.

980ti is amazing just like the 780tis once nvidia really dominate the 4k 60p+ is when I will be upgrading my graphic card!

Everything is pretty good but bad timing for the build , could have waited for the new cards 1080 and 1070.

Is it just me or is the video card sagging pretty bad? Maybe it's just the lighting playing tricks on me.

  • 2 points

Hey Baustin the graphic card is not sagging haha the way the graphic card is built is to separate the heat sinks away from the board!

  • 1 point

Whew! That makes me relieved to hear. I thought you got screwed over with a sagging gpu right off the bat! Glad to hear that's not the case.

definitely would have advised against the RM1000. not only are their many other better options, 2 from corsair with updated RMx/RMi series, but the RM1000 has some mediocre performance itself.

I agree not only the performance but man does the yellow hurt my Black/Red theme. I will replace this power supply very soon!
