Description

Tried to do a clean, minimal, budget friendly VR rig that looks good in the home. Stuck with the Oculus recommended specs and it ended up costing right under $1000 after rebates. I also wanted to make sure this rig is easily Hackintoshed, so I stuck with tonymacx86 recommended parts .

I'll probably upgrade to a GTX 1070 when the prices go down and maybe add a NZXT Kraken X41 in the future.

Thanks for looking!

I don't know what's better, the quality of the photos or the PC itself

Thoronov 2 points 20 months ago

How do you use three fans? The motherboard only supports 2 fans. Great build very sexy

What keyboard is that? And are those speakers AudioEngine A2's?

+1 super nice build and loving the aesthetic :) cool lighting

asthmaticatom submitter 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

thanks, the kb is a Microsoft Designer Keyboard. it's kinda nice, not really great for gaming though. plus it's really hard to see in the dark.

What BEAUTIFUL monitor is that?!

asthmaticatom submitter 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

i think it's a Dell 34" ultrawide

cdblanc 1 point 20 months ago

Very nice...I hope I'm wrong in thinking that beauty is getting hit by sunlight in a bad way.

asthmaticatom submitter 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

thanks, ya i just put the comp there for pictures. usually it's on the floor. :)

Carlos101 1 point 20 months ago

Nice setup. Can you tell me what games you can run really well? (including CS:GO and the fps)

luminous1646 1 point 16 months ago

This should crush any online (mostly multiplayer) title and do about High setting 60fps for an ultrawide like his, otherwise ultra 55-60

Looks very nice! I love this case! I have the black version and it is just great! The whole build looks great! My only suggestion would be to get some cheaper sleeved extensions for like the 24 pin and other cables that are showing! Trust me it looks so much cleaner and your eye isn't drawn straight to that rainbow colored wired strip! Otherwise this thing is amazing!

jacobsamdal 6 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

As i look more in notice they are black cables! hahah my bad! But the sleeved do look better than those weird shined up ones!

asthmaticatom submitter 2 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

lol thanks dude. ya, i want to change the cables next. i really wanted to make a sub $1000 machine and the cables would have put me over. are CableMod's cables good?

jacobsamdal 6 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

Yes they are. I would just look up some extensions on amazon I think my 24 pin was like 20$ where as cable mods are more expensive but these still look nice.

Shermanh21 3 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

cooperg21 1 point 20 months ago

Great build! Where does it rank on the VR scale? Any dropped frames or heating issues?

bigchorizo 1 point 20 months ago

Sexy build mate! What are your idle and load temps with that cooler? I'm looking to get the same one.

Liquid_Divide 1 point 20 months ago

Very nice. I just got parts for a very similar build and I stumbled onto yours. Now I wish I'd gotten the white case.

aerophoenix1 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Hey mate! Amazing build for price/performance ratio! Two questions though~ 1- Are you having any issues with VR with that CPU? 2-Where did you get that dank table o.o

Terminafrex 1 point 19 months ago

Awesome build man! Could you shed some light on the quality of thak ram kit?

SwiftSeb 3 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

Literally the nicest build i have ever seen. This has inspired me to the exact same.

Puhlse 1 point 5 months ago

He wanted to make it a Hackintosh so he went with parts recommended for that.

It's not retarded to recommend that, so no need for the harsh words. It's just that in this case, the builder already stated a reason for why the went with what they did.
