Build

Dual Boot Hackintosh / Windows

by nickedge

Description

I built this with the intention of using a hackintosh for my daily driver and then Windows for gaming. This was a success and I love it. The toughest part of the build was disassembling the AIO on the GPU and re routing the cables to the back and mounting the fan on the side. I did this to not have a single odd fan sticking out. Temperatures don't seem to be an issue due to this and I think it looks significantly better.

Went overboard with the lighting, still happy with the decision.

Cable management was a nightmare and took forever but I am more proud of my work there than anything else.

$340 for a 1080 Ti? Nani?

Bought a 580, got it price matched to an old Walmart ad by my CC company then sold it. Used that cash to buy a 1080 from MicroCenter when they charged an insane amount, had my CC price match it down (another old Walmart ad) and then MicroCenter dropped their prices and I returned for the 1080 for store credit so it wouldn't alert the CC company and bought a 1080ti. Round trip it was $340.

Nice micro build. Cable management is great for the size. Question, though: why use Mac as a daily driver? What work do you do that fits a Mac better and is worth going through the trouble for?

Thank you! Honestly it is just iMessage. I can do everything I need for work in macOS and get iMessage so I prefer it.

Very nice build, especially the cable management in the back. I see the 1080Ti is only in the first and the last pic. Where did you put the hybrid radiator for it?

I disassembled it and reassembled it so it can be mounted on the back side so I wouldn't have to have an uneven fan situation on display.

Nice build! Just one little question. Do WiFi and Bluetooth work with this motherboard or do you need to acquire any "special aditional" network device? I have seen some people need to acquire these special aditional network devices such as the showed in this page --> (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2057872.m570.l1313.TR4.TRC0.A0.H0.Xdell+dw1560.TRS0&_nkw=dell+dw1560&_sacat=0) or something like that. I'm a bit lost about it. Thank you in advance and Greetings!

Neither wifi or bluetooth work when in my Mac partition. I will be transplanting a card from my wife's old macbook air that should fix it though.

How does the RGB ram works ? setup in Win10 and it will work in macOS?

Kudos for that rear cable management. Mine is setup like a knot back there lmao. I didnt really care since that area doesnt really need airflow and never gets seen.
