Description

I've bought many custom builds before on local craigslist and other means, and have probably replaced/taken apart and re built every aspect of a computer 20+ times. This is the first build that I've done from square one, bought all my parts new and built from scratch! I'm loving the higher resolution of the 1920x1200 monitors over my previous 1920x1080 39" Vizio tv.

People bashing on the 970s really need to chill. A 980 ti is good but there have been cases where 2 970 have been shown to do better than a single 980ti.

Why 2 970s over a 980ti? The 980ti would yeild MUCH better performance, also why no modular PSU?

A single 980ti would be around the same as 2 970s, and in some cases, more expensive

But also much more powerful?

If by that you mean performance, then about the same, sometimes better from what I have seen

980ti > 970 SLI 1440p > "1200p" SeaSonic & EVGA PSUs > Bottom Barrel PSU Samsung > Sandisk

IM HERE TO SOLVE THE 2 GTX 970s or a single GTX 980 ti. The GTX 980 ti is the winner. SLI configurations can cause microstutterings that are unappealing. 2 graphics never means double the performance and most of the time its around 30-50 %. Many games arent optimized towards MultiGPUs so there may be little to no performance boost.

While i agree with the SLI profiles not always working for some games, I have personally never had issues with them and most of the time I'm getting up to 80-85% performance scaling. Games now a days are starting to support multi gpu setups much more than they were in the past.

2 970s = 1 980 Ti. Also since Parscal is coming out near the end of this year. Nvidia will gimp the 970s with drivers and future games to force you to upgrade. So your 970s will under perform the 960s before the end of this year.

They did it with the 770s and 670s as well. I would recommend getting a refund for them if possible. If not well you're in trouble.

No 980ti is better

lol ur confused. 2 970 doesnt equal a 980 ti

  • 1 point

With that kind of spelling I am not sure to take you seriously or not, but yes dual 970s barely in most cases benchmark equally to a single 980 Ti.

I misspelled one word "You're" and doesn't if u count an apostrophe. Also, I'm not sure if I can take YOU seriously when u say that. ROASTED

no modular psu, whats the reason?

  • 1 point

Well my Semi modular PSU only has 1 molex cable that i dont need, which is under the shroud anyway. so only cables visible are my GPU cables and AIO radiator tubing

his case is good enough that he doesnt really need to have modular..

  • 1 point

Thats the stupidest thing I've seen ^

  • 1 point

what does the case have to do with it?

  • 1 point

it has good cable management so the extra wires arent going to block airflow and make his insides look ugly

  • 1 point

yeah, did you see the linustechtips video?

  • 1 point

naw link it to me but still the non modular psu is fine

  • EDIT: NVM just watched it. So theres not much of difference in performance but like luke said " he doesnt want ugly computers" It really doesnt really matter if he has modular or nonmodular since his case has some nice cable management loops etc
