Deep Thought - Gaming/Editing

CPU Clock Rate

3.2 GHz

GPU Core Clock Rate

1.632 GHz

GPU Effective Memory Clock Rate

8 GHz

Freelance video editor and huge gamer - I wanted a build that could easily handle both (and as I've found out since, sometimes both at the same time).

Part-wise, honestly no problems, everything worked well together, the case was phenomenal to fit everything with ample breathing room.

Works great with Adobe CC Premiere and Photoshop.

So far, no games have NOT been able to run at 144hz 1440p at max graphics, but I haven't yet tried anything like the Witcher 3. GTA V and Rocket League play beautifully.

I've thought about it for quite a while, and I'm pretty sure I've got it.

The answer to life!

...the universe...and everthing...

All setup to run 7.5 million years. Great job. Btw what question did you ask it?

Thumbs up.

"Can you run GTA V at the same time as Rocket League"

The answer was "for 42 seconds," then GTA crashed

did you have any problems with your ram running at 3200? ur mobo doesn't support that speed according to the spec sheet. Great looking build btw!!

LeMMingSlayeR 22 Builds 2 points 21 months ago

I would really like to see actual RAM speed available to input in the details along with CPU speed and temps, as a lot of kits run at speeds different than official. My G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 3200 runs at 2933 with my current BIOS, which is a lot better than 2400 on the version before that.

I don't know about AsRock, but I sure hope MSI comes out with it's AGESA updated BIOS soon, then maybe I can run my RAM at 3200.

If u want 3200, buy flare x for now. The new patch is out, you just need to download it and wait for ram manufacturers to catch up.

deathf4n 1 point 21 months ago

That was also my concern, I'm finalizing a build with the same mobo+ram. In theory, it should be able to run it. Even if this specific ram is not in the list of QVL supported the "F4 family" of G skill is; also, apparently 1 month ago an update to AGESA has been published http://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/AB350M%20Pro4/index.asp#BIOS

Still, it would be nice if the OP could answer us.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, don't check here too often. Check out my reply to CJHDelta, hopefully it helps

dalmeid1 submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Sorry for the super late reply.

I was told when I bought it that it was just a matter of time that the b350 mobos would get the updates for 3200, and since my cpu could handle it, it'd be worth it even if I had to wait a bit.

Just checked to find that new BIOS update that someone mentioned here, updated, and voila, 3200mhz - HWiNFO Spec Data - was running 2200 or something before the update.

you're fine! glad your ram is running full speed now!

But can it run crisis

Joe_Pristov 1 point 20 months ago

how's the editing experience??

dalmeid1 submitter 1 Build 3 points 20 months ago

It's wonderful, I don't have any actual data, but I exported some videos in 1080p 60fps in H264 for youtube and it exported 1:1 in terms of a 5 minute video taking a bit less than 5 mins to export.

Able to run both Photoshop and Premiere AND a (albeit not that demanding) game or netflix at the same time, so the multitasking is top notch.

thanks for the answer

Have you tried running any games at 1440p? If this build is working out for you, I'll probably build something similar if it turned out good for you (I hope thats okay). I am looking forward to game at 1440p at 144Hz. What games did you try at 1440p and what were the average fps u getting, help out a brother here mate.

dalmeid1 submitter 1 Build 3 points 19 months ago

Every game I've played has been at 1440p and it hasn't had a single issue. Rocket League gets an easy, consistent 144fps, GTA could get 144fps if you lower some graphical settings, but I kept it moderately high and don't dip below 60 even with explosions and collision. Borderlands 2 sometimes dipped down to 30 at max graphics in certain high-particle situations, but usually ran about 90fps at max graphics

I bought the white version of this case and same exact motherboard but my graphics card wont fit ugh!!! Its the msi gtx 1080 armor oc and pcpartpicker says they're all compatible but they aren't.

The IO won't fit outside of the case and the gpu is so long it blocks the sata ports. I am about to cry. Lol and I have no idea if I damaged the mobo or not im not gonna test boot it.

However I am going to try to return the msi card (bought it at microcenter) and they have the asus card you used so hopefully I can get that one and everything turns out perfect. I would hate to have destroyed everything because this is my first build

HotwingCindy 1 point 18 months ago

EDIT NEVERMIND i was just tired and too scared to push it all the way to the side, installing windows now.

dalmeid1 submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Heh, yeah my card was a pain in the *** to figure out how it would fit in, but after I got it, I've been able to take it out and put it back in no problem.

Glad to hear it worked out!
