Description

Hey all,

This is my second computer build that I've created using PCpartpicker. I won my motherboard from the MSI booth at PAX East and it basically led me to start buying my parts little by little since March. I have been interested in VR and I wanted to be somewhat future proof so I went with the Gigabyte G1 GTX 1080. I hope you guys like my build. I know that fans are overkill but I just wanted to have fun with the build and try some new things. Let me know if you have any questions for the parts that I bought or tips if you have any. By the way this build is only a week old. I will update with more information as I get a chance to mess around with things a little. Cheers

I'll take more picture and update this post this weekend. Yeah I was just thinking it was too close to the CPU Cooler there is very little space. Is it weird to just keep it in the middle lol.

Nice build

DONT FORGET TO PLACE YOUR GPU ON THE TOP PCIE LANE

Lol why is that a thing ?

You don't get full performance while placing your gpu on the bottom PCI-E lane... you need to put it on the top pci-e lane...

I thought since all three ports are all PCIenx16 it wouldn't make a difference. Are there bench marks proving this ?

Nice build! Should be pretty future-proof, but that i5 isn't going to stand too strong against the upcoming waves of high-end games (assuming that's what you might use it for). Other than that you could have cut the price of the HDD in half with a Seagate Barracuda (which apparently comes with a cooler according to some reviews, though I didn't get one with mine). Solid build!

Thanks. I think the CPU should be fine. Majority of the games mostly relies on GPU. Most of the time I barely reach 35%-45% load while I'm playing. I think a majority of PC players aren't even on Skylake yet. I believe people mostly still have Maxwell and Haswell. My next upgrade probably wont be for 5+ years.

Did you have trouble installing the Dark Rock Pro 3? Did it get in the way of the RAM slots? I'm thinking of doing a similar build but with more RAM for video editing.

It for but it was a ***** to put on honestly took me like 45 minutes to get it on. I hope I don't have to take it off anytime soon. And if I actually have to take it off. I actually have to remove the motherboard from the case itself. Overall the cooler is amazing though. I don't regret it one bit. It's life noting comes easy.

I'm thinking of a build with the same CPU Cooler / Ram. The Cooler really have a good contact with the cpu and do not touch the RAM Sticks??? Must be really tight! Ready to take the time it take to fit it but just want to be sure its possible with a perfect installation...
