Description

This project started as a Graphic Design Workstation, but as I researched parts and what worked well with one another... I decided to build a dual purpose machine.
I'm a little older now... So I've got the luxury of having some disposable cash to build my dream rig. I've literally just completed it, and everything is working together so nicely.
I'll update this as soon as I've got some seat-time under my belt... Hope you all enjoy!!! Please leave any feedback or comments... I'm sort of new to this level of building and I'm always interested in learning something new :)

Thanks, Glenn

Please man, get that drink away from your PC... I'll die in my chair.. :D Btw +1, great build

philphaser 12 Builds 3 points 32 months ago

Exactly my thoughts! : )

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 3 points 32 months ago

Thanks for the comment kalu.... Just put it there as a prop to show me celebrating after 3 long nights (well... Mornings! lol) of building her afternoon couple long 10+hr shifts at work

kalu____kalu 6 points 32 months ago

You totally deserve a brake, but be careful! :)

WirelessCables 1 Build 1 point 21 months ago

What dr-?

(tap)

Oh. That one.

ThugginMcMuffin 3 Builds 4 points 32 months ago

$3000 monitor no sleeved cables. I cri evry tiem.

...jk nice build you got here

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Thanks Thuggin... I was in such a rush to get pics up. Gonna make it look super-sexy when I get a little time :)

Hercules2905 3 points 32 months ago

Very Happy for you Vader! I can't imagine how it must feel to build one's dream rig and watching it run for the first time must've been awesome. I'm a hardware enthusiast( 15 years old from India) too but not that rich to blow a wad of cash for gaming, have never really built one but I sure do a lot of useless research on them. I hope to be able to afford a 5960k and a 980ti in a single rig one day. Great Job! The rig is fantastic and I hope you have a fun time with it!

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Thanks Hercules2905... It's been a couple days and I'm still on Cloud 9 over the build =} I've been doing ALOT of "useless" research for well over a year, since X99 and Haswell-E came out... all the while saving up for this Monster Build. With a little sacrifice, ALOT of extra work and the knowledge of what parts to get (on sale, of course! lol)... you'll have your Dream Machine in no time ;)

Kornaynewb 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Holy O.O its 8x 8gb O.O Awesome build you got there :o

slightly more amazed at the ( assuming thats a wacom ? ) "tablet" tho :O

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Thanks Kornaynewb :) Yeah... 64gb DDR4. I was totally pumped when I got a deal on it!!! Thanks for noticing my Cintiq: it's the flagship 27QHD Touch with the optional $500 Ergo Stand =] They didn't even have it in the parts list, so I found a comparable monitor to work up the price lol Really Appreciate the compliments and comment!

Liam81 2 points 32 months ago

On this $8k build about 50% is software/ OS but the other 50% is really sweet parts. With all the "traffic" it is great to see that you went with X99. Really well done. +1

Battlefield 3 points 32 months ago

Bro, you gotta work on your math. :)

WillieTheNelson 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

HA!

Liam81 1 point 32 months ago

My math skills are excellent but communication lacked greatly. Software + Monitor is approximately 50% of the cost. Thanks for pointing out my flaw.

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Thanks Liam81... I appreciate the compliments and comment :) I have SO much more software like Photoshop CS6 Master Suite with ALL the plugins, Mari, Maya, Zbrush, Mudbox, Manga, Xara, Serif, etc... they just didn't have them listed in the software parts section :( Been waiting to get into the X99 platform since it came out... But wanted to save up and do it right, and BIG!!! Thanks again :)

Liam81 1 point 32 months ago

I can assume the wait was worth it !!

I'm not too jealous.

Persicuta 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

I think you essentially did VERY well here. Great selection parts. Very well done on cable management, looks sexy. Build turned out really nice man! Please let us know more! Bit overkill on that power supply but i sense another titan coming soon, right ? wink wink ;) Great job matey!!!!

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Thank for the compliments, Persicuta :) I researched for a VERY long time on what parts I'd like to get to conform to my specific needs... So far it's all working out well. I, of course, caught "the bug" and will be expanding on what I have soon! lol I especially appreciate your comment on my cable management!!! I'm fairly certain that I spent almost two nights (mornings! lol) after work trying to get Her as clean on the inside as I possibly could. I wanted Her to be a sleeper, but I think I did too good because She looks pretty underwhelming LOL. Oh yeah... Totally getting another Titan soon, btw!!! Quick question: do I "need" to get another Superclocked model, or can I run SLI with another type of Titan X?

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Another Titan X will work fine but it will just reduce the clock speeds down to the lower card, as both cards must be running at the same speeds for SLI :)

Hope this helps

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Thanks, Iceman!!! I appreciate the info :)

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

No problem, try a little googling.

It will give you a more detailed explanation :)

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Will Do :)

johngerges582 2 points 32 months ago

This is super awesome. I'm sure it will serve you well. +1

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Thanks, John... I appreciate it :)

J.Sammour 2 points 32 months ago

At first i thought the screen was overpriced, but it seemes it is for drawing?

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Yeah J.Sammour... It's actually the Flagship Cintiq model 27QHD Touch, but the parts bin didn't have it as an option and I wanted to keep the pricing relatable. The Monitor was $3200 and the ergo stand alone was an extra $500 :/ It's and absolutely revolutionary piece of equipment that is the crowning jewel of my workstation :)

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

This PC is a beut (beauty?), solid build you have here and good to see you put the time in.

A Picture with all the panels on and the drink on the other side of the room would be nice, or do you leave the panels off? D:

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Thanks Iceman... As soon as I get back to Georgia after visiting Family for Thanksgiving in NY, I'll throw up some pics of it totally enclosed. I was just so darned excited to have finally finished it (...at least for now LOL), that I wanted to show off the components (so you knew I wasn't lying) and to showcase how clean I did the cable management :)

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Fair enough, im having a hard time taking my panels off to photo haha.

Too busy playing Fallout 4 to post my build on PCPP :/

Should really get around to that haha

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Haha I totally hear ya, Iceman!!! I took the pics before I installed games... So that's prolly the only reason it got done LOL

Iceman320 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Mine was a progressive build and getting the end snap shots is proving to be difficult haha

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

I'm realizing quickly after talking to you guys that mine went from "Finished" to a Progressive Build as well! lol

Tylerlhooker 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Do you play Osu! on that big touchscreen? :D

KB_Evolved 5 Builds 2 points 32 months ago

Part list says Asus Mobo, Pictures show me ASRock. Whats going on with that?

0BSiD1AN 1 point 32 months ago

Nice build! Definitely a +1 from me! But can you run some minesweeper benchmarks? I barely get 0.2 fps on the lowest settings.

Eggz 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Are the 850 Pros in RAID along side the 950 Pro in NVMe Has there been any conflict if so? Anything special to consider for such a setup? I'm going to do RAID 1 along side a 950 Pro next week and want to know whether it will work right.

Ninjadudewhat 2 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

What I'd do for a tablet like that

Trav_X 1 point 26 months ago

http://pcpartpicker.com/b/zQpbt6

This guy taking your build and posting it with your pictures, just a heads up

maggotshero 10 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

Hey Glenn, some one just stole your build and put it up on the website, just thought I'd let you know, if you even see this.

Ookgluk32 1 point 26 months ago

But can it play minesweeper on low settings without overheating?

:D

Nice build though.

Ehart 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Man, I'll say this, it's original. Not my favorite personally. Still, it's really nice. I've been thinking about making a dedicated art rig too. Sick man.

weeman3147 1 point 22 months ago

my rig to end all rigs... then u spill ur beer and and ur rig too

xDiiThy 3 Builds 0 points 32 months ago

Nice but I am Worried that you could have got a better GPU, like the hybrid if you were to get less RAM, other than that it does not look like you sacrificed the budget on bad parts, everything is top notch here, what about sli Titan? What about a H240?

philphaser 12 Builds 3 points 32 months ago

Pretty much the most confusing thing i've ever read on pcpp. Are you suggesting he could've done better for the money, like value-wise? He's got a superclocked Titan X! How is that not top notch? Seriously! =D

xDiiThy 3 Builds 2 points 32 months ago

I meant like hybrid titan x if he like got 32GB or 48GB of RAM

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

I'm planning on putting a water lock on the Titan... That's basically the same thing, right.

xDiiThy 3 Builds 2 points 32 months ago

Basically, Inmean the upgraded VRM and Super acharged Mosfets that come with the hybrids are similar to the ones in the superclocked, probably identical, slapping on a G10 Kraken for example, would work perfectly, so yeah it is the same thing :) No worries I love helping people who have the time, money and effort in building enthusiast grade PC's.

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

I really appreciate the help you and everyone else are sending my way! I'm planning on doing more work to make this an even more amazing machine =]

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Thanks xDiiThy.... I went with the best GPU I could get my hands on locally. And Yes... Definitely planning on doing a Titan SLI soon =} Do you know if I need to get the Superclocked model for SLI, or can I run any model of Titan X to do that? I'm prolly going with the H240 and returning the 220... They only had the 220 in stock, so I grabbed that because I was excited and rushing! lol

Kokonip 3 points 32 months ago

Any Model Titan X can SLI with Any Model Titan X

xDiiThy 3 Builds 3 points 32 months ago

Yes but the clock speeds should be the same and I would and many other tech experts would suggest to get the exa same gpu, stick with the superclocked it is already top notch, I did not know that it was superclocked.

Kokonip 2 points 32 months ago

yea

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Thanks Kokonip :)

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

Thanks, XDiiThy... Really appreciate the info :) This is gonna be my first SLI

xDiiThy 3 Builds 2 points 32 months ago

NP buddy, oh and with exa I mean exact same clock speeds, it would seriously screw up SLI hence when overclcoking the software will simultaneously control both gpus clock speeds, there would be severe compatibility issues if the clock speeds were different such as extreme micro stuttering when the frames are rendered on the other gpu/gpus different clock speeds, rapidly changing in processing speeds if you had a 1300mhz clock on the first gpu and 1500mhz on the other, the image on the monitor would be severly f'd in the butthole, because this is how SLI works, the frame is cut in half and processed by both gpus, similar to RAID 0 on a HDD/SSD. btw i'm 14 years old so yeah, I do to much reasearch :D Glad to help.

This will primarily be my Digital Art Workstation, Sedated Zebra... So the Cintiq 27QHD will remain my primary monitor. Buuuuttttt.... I'll definitely be adding a secondary monitor, as well: 4K monitor for gaming. Any suggestions on a model? I'm in the process of redoing my Digital Art Studio... So Yes, everything will be relocated to its appropriate place :) Thanks for leaving a Like and Comment!

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

To a digital artist, that monitor is priceless LOL. I know it's outrageously expensive... But there's nothing out there like it. I'm looking for suggestions for just a good 4k monitor with no lag time.

therealxex 1 point 31 months ago

How much do digital artist make a year? And who hires you -_- I'll be stalking you. Not really. I joke.

Vader1400 submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

I'm returning the 220. It was the only one they had in stock and I was too excited to wait! lol
