Description says 'still in progress,' does this mean the build is incomplete, or that you plan on doing upgrades in the near future?

All the components are in his build but he seems to be doing some cosmetic upgrades to items within the case. I am guessing that is what he meant by 'still in progress'. Look forward to the completely finished product.

It does look that way which is why I'm confused. If it's cosmetic work then I am excited for the finished product, and from the look of the components it should be a very formidable system.

I still have 2 monitors to add. Maybe swop the ram to 16gb. But there's a lot of sleeving to do and some modding. But the main hardware is just about done

Thank you for the update on that. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I'm so jealous... How the hell can you even afford this thing? The only thing I would change is the GPU. I'd SLI three GTX 970's instead. The 290x's have pretty bad scaling and you just get more overall performance for the price.

at 1440p the 290x does pretty good against the 970. and scaling is pretty equal, plus i think mantle makes amds pull ahead a little if game supported.

Nice build so far I guess. But the biggest difference between the 970 and 290X is that the 290X consumes twice as much power causing to need a 1300 watt psu. +1

also not true.

I have a 970 and my friend has my identical build just with an r9 290x. The 290X does suck up tons more power but the 970 out performs just a bit. If you look on videocardbenchamrks.net you will see that as well. SLI/Crossfire the same goes. the 970's outperform the 290X by a little bit so it all depends on whether you are an AMD fan or NVIDIA.

i agree with the 970 using less power. its does use about 60-80w less. but not half the power.

Honestly Nvidia does have AMD beat at power consumption and heat, the 970's are spectacular and have a very low power usage, you can probably even use a 450w psu for one, AMD though, is cheaper, but will cost you the consumption/heat and a bigger psu. So as I see it, Nvidia beat out AMD because with the low powers, means more OC'ing.

EBay. ... I haven't paid this price. My end cost will be approx 2600. And the 290s I chose as they perform better at high res and this will end up being 7560x1440

Also I already had most of the wc from my last machine

AMD always scales better than nvidia, especially in the newest gpu's
