Project R.O.B.

(Red On Black)

Notes

So I wanted a nice looking clean build at a cheap price. I went with all the most popular stuff, because it is good. Not much to say about my parts list, everyone should be quite familiar with everything.

Yes, it is your typical Red/Black build. However, I couldn't find any other colors at a reasonable price, so I was left with Red/Black.

Only problem I had was that my 6 pin PSU extension was just a hair short, and the adapter sticks out of the PSU cover slightly. However, the case covers it so I wont waste more money. EDIT: Reconsidering buying a new one :P

Another thing that bugged me is all the cables that connect to the h100i. I could not hide them very well, but oh well.

I painted the front grill, one drive bay cover, and the pump mount with satin rustoleum paint. I think it came out pretty good, except for the drive bay. Its a little "too" red, and I think I will end up painting over it as a small red stripe.

In the future, I might slap some more RAM in there or put another 970 inside. I also plan on buying a new monitor, probably the ROG Swift. Then for my gameroom update of a new TV and couch :)

Any questions, thoughts, opinions, improvements etc., please let me know in the comments!

Part Reviews

Case

This is one thing I decided I should cover. This thing is fantastic! Cable management is a breeze, and already comes pretty much done. It has these easy-to-use tie straps. It has two SSD slide in mounts, ton of drive bay space, and looks sick with the LED's. It also has a big color spectrum of LED's, however I just leave it at red for obvious reasons. It is super water cooling friendly. It comes with a ton of radiator space, along with pump and reservoir mounts. At this price point, I don't see a need to buy any other case besides this one.

That Red on the Pump Mount for the Cooler is on point! That was one of the first things that jumped out at me seeing this build. If the drive bay was a hair darker it'd be perfect for that front to match the red accents, but unless you're looking for it, you don't really see the difference. Those PCI Cables however are driving my OCD nuts(I saw your reasoning, and the fact that they're covered and I totally 100% understand where you're coming from, but my OCD doesn't haha). Overall nice build! Clean work. +1 From me.

BTW you can change the Corsair H100i's LEDs to red to add more color :D

+1 Great looks and performance for a reasonable price. I'm currently putting together parts for an Enthoo Luxe build myself - looks like a fantastic case. Even though red and black builds are the most typical, I think they always look good when done right. Besides, there's so much top notch red/black hardware out there it's hard to NOT do a red/black mid-level build for that kind of cash.

Nice! Phanteks makes breath-taking cases and this is no execption. Also love the led's and the colors.

Yea...I think that you might end up choking your power supply. If you are going to put your pc on carpet make sure that there is a flat solid surface under the pc itself. Other than that you did a good job with your build.

you mispelled "Phanteks" as "Phantex" in the parts list. anyways, great build, i wanted to build mine in this too, but the Corsair 760T really screams for modding, so I bailed on the luxe.

Hi im trying to do the same thing as you where you painted the backplate of your cooler, could you tell me the exact paint you used for it? like what shade and all that. I want it to look as good as yours!

I went to my local Walmart and picked up a can of Rustoleum Satin Red spray paint for about 3 dollars. It was 3 dollars well worth it!
