CPU Clock Rate

For those of you who have seen my Ressurection mod, this is the itx version of it, without the painting and cutting...for now. Maybe I'll scratch Sam back's later.

Anyway, as the title says, the main goal of this build is to have a steambox that will be use in the living room. The reason I changed for the Itx is to get a build that would be more compact and less heavy to move around if needed.

So what's next? Well, a cpu cooler, modding and maybe, maybe, a r7 250. I'll see if it worth dual-graphic later on.

The case was bought used for 65$ Can. While the A10 and the ram come from the old build. There's also a HDD not listed.

Part Reviews

Nice Apu. For my steam box, it's working great. Maybe I'll try to overcloak later, but everything is working for now.

Nice form factor. Really compact thank to the ITX. The wifi seem to be fine since I used to have connection problem with any small D-link wireless card. Fast look at the BIOS and everything look good.

Hummmm bootload. Perfect size for steamos or for a netbook. If you want to have a lot of game, or sotfware, don't hesitate to go a little bit bigger.

Nice looking, but really small space for the cable (keep in mind that's a Itx). Had some problem to connect the Usb3 to the mobo since there's not a lot of space. Also, the cable from the psu are make a 90 ° really fast since the OD tray and ssd hdd tray are blocking it a bit. Also the psu is use to pull hot air outside. No idea if it's a good or bad idea since making it take the air outside might restrict a bit the cable connection and it would still receive the heat from the cpu.

Great build you got here mate. I would suggest forgoing the DUAL Graphics and just go for a mid tier GPU like a R7 260 to R9 270

The next upgrade for this APU is to add the CPU cooler

the CM Gemini II M4 will be a good upgrade which is slim and employs a big fan.

There's also these choices for mini-itx coolers for that APU:

Scythe SCKZT-1000 from this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/NpycCJ

Noctura NH-L9a from this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/FKQV3C

As well as Silverstone's AR06 and NT06-Pro (only saw intel builds on here so far).

So many choices for slim mini-itx CPU coolers anymore.... hard to decide.... lol

Scythe and Noctua coolers are more costlier than the CM

but due to their restricted design,

the only way to improve cooling is wider fins and fan at the cost of blocking RAM and GPU or run a higher rpm for the smaller fans.

While i do like iTX builds

AMD and iTX dont seem to mix well

Wow, really nice cooler idea. Didn't know which to choose from. And from this build;

it would fit perfectly.

it works best with slim HTPC

and it quite silent

Also, what do you think of the Zalman cnps 8900?

dragoon20005 4 Builds 1 point 36 months ago

i still remember Zalman but didn't they died already?

Not in Canada :P

30$ on ncix -15$ with mail-in-rebate ( Which, I don't really take as a -15$ until I got it in my pocket)

I also got the opportunity to buy an open box from someone. Only thing is that he says that it didn't fit his m-itx board. I check and my mobo is listed as a compatible part
