Description

This machine I mainly use for programming/running virtual machines and occasional gaming with my girlfriend. I really like the Phanteks case and the tempered glass, did a little painting on the inside to add white accents which came out pretty good I think. Not the quietest machine and dust accumulates on the glass pretty regularly but i don't mind too much. The cool white corsair LED ram looks great with the ML140 LED fans and the Hue Plus has some pretty cool color combinations but I mostly leave it static because this is a distracting computer as is. Currently overclocked to 4.6 ghz, but will look to increase that when water cooling becomes an option for me. Ram is at 3200 and the Galax gtx 1070 is overclocked slightly, but had some difficulty getting a stable overclock with this card which was a little surprising given the name of the card, but it is still very fast on its own. The 960 Evo holds windows 10 and linux dual booted with no issues. Tried to put Mac OS Sierra on as well but had some driver issues with the graphics card so instead I run it through vmware which works just fine. Overall really happy with it, given what I mainly use it for I probably should have gone with an X99 setup over kabylake or Ryzen with more cores, but I think this machine will last me a long time as of now.

As a fan of the color purple and a neat freak - I appreciate this build very much. Also, that's a lot of screen real estate! Here - +1 - have this.

+1 for using what looks like playing cards to even out the monitor heights.

That's one sick build, I wish I had $2500 to throw around like that. +1 jealousy.

actually, if you remove the peripherals and overkill parts it comes out to around 1500

But the overkill is the best part!

What are the settings for the lighting?

I just use 3 of the strips to cycle through pink and purple in the front of the case while 1 strip in the back is a constant light blue, the CAM software lets you do pretty much whatever you want

Why didn't you just get a split screen background wallpaper for your PC?

hows the LG monitor are the pixels too noticeable?

it's really not as bad as you would think, but i probably should have gone with a single 32 inch with better quality than two 1080p monitors

I got it up to 4.8 just on the air cooling, but it was spiking randomly in temperatures so i put it to 4.2 so i could just keep the fans at a lower noise level, i want to water cool eventually down the road and try again, just followed a guide off youtube can't really remember which

Hey, I know this might be a bit of a absurd question but do you know where that desk is from or what desk it is? Also love your build!

Agreed, but the price from an ultrawide 1080p to an ultrawide 1440p monitor makes it not worth it to me, i'd like to see those prices come down first

You know, I've never really been able to notice resolution while gaming to the point where it bothers me. I game less than 5 feet from a 42" 1080p TV when I play my consoles and I never think "Man, this 1080p res on this 42" display looks like trash!" heh. I dunno, maybe I'm just weird. I only notice resolutions when it comes to reading text, never gaming.
