Description

UPDATED: After running a little crazy on MicroCenter and Fry's open box super promo sales, I've picked up some new gear. An ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer, a 480GB OCZ Trion SSD, and an XFX R9 390. For a total of $320. It was a good month!

This is my first attempt at something that is effective for both development, media creation, and gaming, and is pretty. It's not "complete" per se...but it's close enough.

ETA: I've got the 4TB of storage for family photos/videos, design work, and audio masters. It was a fairly high priority for my needs.

You may wanna change your parts list for the cpu cooler, you have a watercooler in the pics, but the hyper 212 evo in the parts list.

Nice to see a fellow whovian around here, with all that storage you could download the entire classic and new series with ease.

How's the overall performance of the build?

Ha, I considered it, but they're on Amazon Prime, so no need...yet.

The performance is good so far, but I haven't really pushed it yet. We'll see what the summer holds.

What got me to click on this build was the name. This is a nice budget build.

I misunderstood what you meant (also saw "CPU" somehow). I noticed it the other day, and I haven't figured out how to support it...

Some Chinese knock off from Amazon. If I stick with the recording, I'll let myself buy a good one.

I've heard the "glass" on this case scratches incredibly easily. Was that your experience? And is it also difficult to clean?

I was careless once and got a scratch along the bottom on the outside. Other than that, it's been fine. And cleaning is cleaning...it hasn't put up much of a fight at all.

late comment but I think you put the ram in the incorrect slots there's a red slot missing doesn't that mean the two red are in one channel the two black in one channel? you have one in red and one in black so they're running in single channel each so you might want to swap one stick into the red or one stick into the black for dual channel, better performance.

How is that motherboard? My friend is doing a budget system soon and I am considering this board for him.

Was looking for a budget gaming PC to build, and found this! Nice to see a fellow Whovian share such an amazing piece of machinery. All of time and space? Not sure about that, but I'm definitely building this now! +1

The CPU is more than enough for gaming, you just gotta overclock it a bit. Which he did.

I know its enough for gaming but 4TB are useless and 2TB are more than enough. With thse 45$ you can get a better CPU.

Thanks. I've got about 1.25 TB of photos and videos of my kids, and another TB of media...so the storage came first on this one.
