Description

I actually got all that parts at Microcenter, paid $405. No problems, worked perfectly. I'm playing around with freenas. I might try Unraid. This is my first build in 15 years. I build a pc in 2000. Then switched to Mac in 2005. Now I'm working my way back to PC.

Umm having a 2TB HDD doesn't mean it's a NAS lol... At least there should be 4TB in HDDs and SSDs to be a NAS. Apart from that, nice build!

Well it may be a NAS to him/her by THEIR definition. If 2TB is all they need then it suits them just fine. Please don't push YOUR opinion of what defines it as a NAS as it's just that your opinion.

NAS is a definition or type of storage solution, not limited by amount of storage. All it has to do is sit on a network by itself and be addressable by another computer as a file system. For instance, I have taken a Raspberry PI 2 with a 16GB SD card and configured it as a NAS server. Dumb and useless, but it fit the definition of NAS.

Also, if you look at the pics, the bays are full of some sort of storage media. Kind of a mixed bag, but quite a few devices.

Weird. Sure acts like a Network Attached Storage. My other computers backup to it, and it acts as a plea media server. Lol
