Description

First of all I just want to say that my parents did not pay for a CENT in this rig, I had been saving for 4 years.

There isn't much to say here. She's clean, and runs like a champ. (still debating what to name her :P) CPU - good for gaming and I will soon be overclocking once my all in one cooler comes in. Although, It's still plenty fast enough for me on a stock clock.

MOBO - It just looks good. Ok so I actually wanted the blue version but it was out of stock EVERYWHERE. I'm very glad I got this one though.

RAM - This ram is 8gb which is enough for gaming right now, is clocked at 1866, and is low profile so if you do get a beefy cooler it will not be in the way. Not to mention It looks good.

SSD - This was my first time using an SSD and man is it fast. I boot into windows in 14 seconds. That aside, 128gb and $60 (at the time) just made sense.

HDD - This is going to be used (well actually already is haha) as my mass storage. It's a 7200rpm drive so its plenty fast and has one whole TB of storage.

GPU - It doesn't care what I throw at it, it just runs. What can I say about this glorious thing, It has three fans to keep it cool, which in turn makes it look badass. I got the version that makes the WINDFORCE logo light up. And it comes with a backplate - a selling point for me.

CASE - Once again, there isnt much to say. The white looks clean ( especially with the MOBO I have) and simple. It comes with a big side window that lets to see inside (I find myself looking over at it to my right ALL the time) and for me it had effortless cable management.

PSU - It's semi modular, a feature that i found useful. Its a 600 watt power supply, so plenty enough for my specs. Plus it had a lot of good reviews so this is what I went for.

OS - I personally got 8.1 because I like it, and have grown used to it. And in many cases I find it more simple than windows 7.

MONITOR - This panel is amazing. 24" 2ms response time and for being a TN panel, it looks very sharp.

KEYBOARD - It's what I'm typing on right now. I really like the simple design and the blue LED's just go with my build. I'm really liking the blue switches and makes typing more enjoyable. Plus it make a beautiful sound.

MOUSE - I've been using logitech mice for a while now and none of them let me down. This being the best of course, While it did take some getting used to, it fits nice in my hands. And once again the black and blue goes with my build.

HEADSET - Having surround sound comes in hand at many time. Mostly in games like CS GO and such. all around a good headset for gaming and has a very nice sounding microphone.

SIDENOTE - If you know of any cheap, white LED's send me a link because I'd like to buy them to illuminate the inside of my case. Thanks in advance :D.

Great build! I'm 14 too, and I've done a few builds, been doing it for a few years, but I really like your choice of parts, and I totally understand your first paragraph, I got so much "Eww looks like someone's got rich parents" in my build XD Good job man! +1

Haha, but I'm not sure how this guy earns his money, but I do a paper round of 800+ houses which gets me about 60 British Pounds per month. You can work it out yourself how long it took me to save up for my build :P It's on my page if you're interested :)

thanks for the reply! I'm currently saving for my own build which is expensive as hell in Canadian dollars :/ . Check out my profile description if you're curious haha!

I love your list! Two things though..Do you really need that WD Black drive as opposed for to a Blue with an SSD? Also, have you seen the Define S from Fractal Design? It just seems that you don't have a need for the huge drive compatibility in the R5, and you've got some sexy components to show off with a bigger window on the S model. Other than that, great list! :)

Thanks dude! This is going to sound dumb but I don't think I'll be able to live with myself having that tiny sliver of blue in my case. Also the case I am getting will be the r5 blackout. I'm not much for LEDs, but I think a slight red glow coming from the mobo through the tinted window will look great! I've been dreaming of this pc ever since I made this account 6 months ago. Tweaking it everyday, dreaming of getting even more powerful components. I was looking for a job for the last 6 months and I finally got one about a month and a half ago. I never had a good PC and right now I'm playing on a laptop that runs League at 20 fps on minimum settings. I've missed out on a lot of great games because of this and when I get my new PC hopefully I'll be able to experience it all. One more thing to note is that i will be getting the 980 ti(hopefully the Asus or Gigabyte coolers have red or RGB lights) and eventually the ROG swift. The build should be complete sometime this summer(excluding the monitor). I just can't wait to play at 1440p constant 144hz!!!

$1000/$2500 CAD

Just a few hundred more hours making sandwiches at Subway and I shall reach my goal! Sorry if I don't reply I have class now!

try australian dollars and how much parts are here in australia. even with the conversion rate they are still an extra 100 because af damm taxes and import costs. that goes for everything not just PC parts

Haha yea, how did you like it?

  • 1 point

I really did like the way the h100i looks. Also loved the fact that the ram was white. And on top of that the white sleeved cables looked amazing with the krait mobo (which I also have haha). The only thing i would have done is if you still had the previous build to use the nzxt s340 (the one I have too lol) because the white sceme of it would go great with the new one. Other than that its seems amazing.

  • 1 point

Yea, I've built in the S340 before, as you'll see in my other builds, and it's a decent case, but the cable management isn't as good as this one, and it's waay louder :)

Great job buddy. What cpu cooler is on the way?

Thanks! I could easily go for a big air cooler but I just dont like the way most of the air coolers take up a lot of space. So most likely a Corsair h100i. It will be front mounted. I can't wait to overclock :D

Commenting on just a few things:

G502 for the win! Love that mouse... Lighter scroll wheel would've made it mouse of the century. Just last night I realized I can have separate button maps for different games/apps that are only active when you're inside of said game/program. Like on Witcher I have CTRL, ALT and I on thumb buttons but on Counter Strike they're K, 4, 5. ***Just realized that's a G402... let me know if the features are the same.

Also, do you plan on buying a CPU cooler down the line?

970, nice! How do you like that headset? Kingston's HyperX Cloud are unbeatable at their price range. I have the Cloud 2 which just add a little visual flare and a virtual surround sound card to it for $20 more but is the same build and they're great. The sound cancellation feels like it's active. If you're not happy with that headset, consider a Kingston HyperX Cloud.

  • 2 points

I don't think i have the same function on the g402, but I'll test it out! And yes I didn't just buy the K version for no reason :P. (don't mean to sound like a jerk there) so yeah I'm saving once again for a Corsair h100i. I love the headset. It's the most comfortable set I've had. My friend also has a pair and he likes them. Thanks for the tip, if they ever let me down I will try them out!

the amount of people in here that didn't read the description is insane :P that's okay though, I don't read them sometimes as well, he said he ordered an all in one liquid cooler that was on the way.

  • 1 point

If there's more than 3 page breaks I look at the pics and call it a day lol... OK that's good. Stock coolers due fine at stock speeds but they just don't do "K" chips justice.

Thanks! yeah pretty much every one in my school is like that. Most of them get $100 and use that to help pay for their fancy new phone and think they payed for it. They get on my nerves too. But oh well, what can we do right? haha

What is your monitor like?

It's amazing. 2ms response time, its a tn panel and has pretty slim bezels. It also has built in speakers but they are on the quiet side. For $150 it was a good deal.

I'm thinking of buying it or just spending like $300 more and getting a 144hz monitor

Nice build!

On the topic of LED lights, you can go a bunch of different ways. Let me throw a couple of links on here and then a couple product names just off the top of my head.

If you want to go all out crazy with RGB LEDs that you can control with a remote (hey, I know, a bit over the top from what you asked about but they're so much fun to play with), there are a couple kits on Amazon that will sell 5050 RGB LED strips. If no RGB but you want to try and do the lighting system the way you want, cutting it up and specifically lighting your build from multiple views, you can get 5050 LED strips on Amazon for cheap or in 5 meter packages.

If not, FrozenCPU has a wonderful selection of modding parts. Not as bright or shopping-friendly as Newegg or other sites, but here ya go: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8796/lit-179/Logisys_White_12_LED_Sunlight_Stick_ML12WH.html?tl=g6c77s126 ^ $10 white LED stick that connects to a Molex connector from your PSU, this should be about what you're looking for, I think.

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12842/lit-259/BitFenix_Alchemy_Aqua_6_LED_Light_Strip_-_200mm_-_White_BFA-AAL-20WK6-RP.html?tl=g6c77s126#blank ^ $20 white LED strip, again to Molex, nicer quality than the above

Other options on the general topic of lighting are cold cathode tubes, the NZXT Hue, other single color NZXT LED strips that install in one of your expansion slots in your case, a bunch of others I can't think of right now. Hope this helped!

Not to one down you but I built mine when I was 13 ;D I'm fourteen now and still love mine, I'm super jealous of your budget, but like you, I had to save for my rig. I've also noticed something else, a lot of people have really gross builds on this site, with odd parts and terrible cable management. Why does it seen like our age knows what we're doing, while a lot of others don't XD Sweet build, super clean, glad you joined the party. +1

Haha no worry's I actually didn't have enough for the build at 13 and couldn't settle for less so I worked that little while longer to get what i have. Glad you had the experience of building a PC! I'm not going to lie though, my birthday did help me get the $200 i needed for my desk and chair. (had to pay for those as well :P)
