Build

First Build. Everything you need package.

by hhg

Description

Not the best pictures for this PC, maybe I'll upload more later. I'm a first time builder who wanted to get into PC gaming. Took me a month of researching for this build and hours to finally get everything right. But I'm very satisfied with the result :D.

All the parts were bought from Amazon and Newegg.

CPU- I needed i5 for the games I wanted to play, so I choose this. The main reason I picked the i5-4460 is because of the 0.2 GHz over the i5-4430 for just $10 more.

MB- I wanted a ATX MB and a good brand. I think this MB is smaller than other ATX MB. You can only put in seven screws.

Ram- 8GB for gaming. Good brand and it has small heat spreaders.

Storage SSD- I needed a 250GB SSD for a fast boot time and a few games to load quickly. Its the top of the line SSD.

Storage HDD- 250GB SSD wasn't enough so I chose this. It's a good brand, 1TB, 7200RPM, and 64MB cache.

GPU- I was worried about AMD cards using too much power and overheating, so I wanted to get Nvida card but the GTX 960 was too weak for me and the 970 was too pricey. So I chose the new AMD 300 series for the right price and performance and the lower power usage and temperatures. High quality brand. Supports DirectX 12 so I assume I'll get notable performance boost in the future. It has 4GB which is great for modding Skyrim.

Case- I was still worried about AMD cards overheating . I picked this case because of the great airflow, two 140mm fans, and it has fan controller. It's a solid case with great cable management space, and paddings all over the case to reduce noise.

PSU- Second tier PSU. I went extra on the wattage in case I buy another AMD card that requires more power. It came with all the cables I needed.

Monitor- Its 23in, Asus, and I wanted IPS panel. Looks great.

Key broad- I wanted a gaming key broad and mouse for a low price.

Speakers- I wanted low priced speakers. It came with a bass speaker and extra piece to connect phone or mp3 players for music.

OS- Newest Windows OS .Bought the key at reddit for a low price. Saved a lot of money and didn't have to buy an optical drive.

USB- Bootable USB for the OS.

i saw that video ... comments : - far cry 4 on 960 i get 50 avg on ultra 1080p -.- what the **** - This guy probably doesn't know how to benchmark well, or he's making his results up for the nvidia. My 960 get 55-65 fps on wticher 3 maxed out at 1080p _^ - fair enough a 380 is the same price as my 960, but my 960 completely blows a 380 in benchmarks. this uploaders results for the 960 are not accurate. nothink is sure ...

Butt hurt

The comparison is not fair at all. it's pitting a r9 380 4gb against a gtx 960 2gb. The VRAM difference and the fact he's running them at 'stock levels' mean that the R9 380 is bound to be better. When you test them at factory overclock or even manual overclock, you'll see that they are very evenly matched. Sometimes the 960 wins, other times the 380 wins. Go with whichever is cheaper and right now, GTX 960 is the same price and comes with Batman so that wins :)

Solid build man! :) I'm probably going to build something as similar as this. I hope everything goes well for me. This is also my first time building a PC and so far I've been researching for months trying to find a mid range build like yours. Btw, how's it running so far this past year? Anyways very nice build and I would recommend this to other first time builders looking for a mid range gaming PC.

Pretty much building the same thing, how is your gaming performance? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3zgYMp

i feel so weird commenting on a build from like almost a year ago xD but how did you feel about plugging in those pins for the graphics card? i see you split two 8 pins and left the other 2pin just dangling. i have the same problem thats why. and i know this question is also worded weirdly but i think you get what im saying
