Teabagging. This machine will be used primarily for teabagging. I anticipate being victim more than perpetrator. Added a 2TB internal drive I had been using for movies. Monitor was about $200 cheaper than what's listed, bought it used.
+1 For someone who build a computer for the first time it's nice to see it's working. I do suggest watching some youtube video on how to do cable management. You can re-route the cables to the other side of the case this will give you a better air flow. Latest PCPP Build from 57:00 they start installing the PSU, watch how they route each cable
Greta suggestion. I followed it and tidied things up a bit.
I am glad that you did that cable management :)
A+ Description, A+ Parts, A+ Cable Management. Great Build
What good is an i7 if all he's doing is gaming and watching movies? 8gb ram is good enough for his need too.
Won't multiple monitors add more than $140? And make my eyes angry and sad? I just wanted something that would run AAA titles at 1080p and very high settings without requiring upgrades in the near future. The i7 would not improve my ability to do this. If I find I need more memory (which is unlikely), I do have 2 more slots. I can upgrade at will for $40. I do appreciate the feedback, but what you're suggesting would suit your needs more effectively than mine. Cheers. (I'm drinking beer, so "cheers" is appropriate).
1) In terms of the i7, $140 is still a lot of money, and an i5 will do plentiful for gaming, unless, he were to do editing and other multitasking
2) Although 16 GB of RAM is becoming common, 8 GB can still do the job if he's just gaming.
3) Although a lot of people are anticipating for NVIDIA's next linup of cards, (and people say its 1080/ x80, not 1070), a 970 can do him well and he could sell it later.
