Description

edit More Photos, new fans(corsair AF 120)

Positives:

+It works

+The hyper 212 fits in the case just fine without hitting the case

Negatives:

-The Hyper 212 was a pain to put in

-The Motherboard is off center (Human error)

-Cable management at the back was almost impossible! but enough blood, sweat and tears and I eventually closed the cover!

Unimportant Information: Originally I was planning on getting a full AMD build FX 8350+Asus Sabretooth 990FX/Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0, but I decided against it and opted for the Intel i5(Yes 5) but when the time came to buying it, it wasn't in stock for a while so I decided to just get the i7 4790K and I haven't regretted that decision.

TL/DR: THE I5 WAS OUT OF STOCK AND I GOT SICK OF WAITING
TL/DR: THE R9 270X WAS ON SALE AND I PICKED IT UP 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO MY CPU

My pictures aren't great, I do Mechanics not Photography.

Part Reviews

CPU

I originally planned to get the i5 4690K but I'm happy I went for the i7 4790K. No regrets!

CPU Cooler

It's good but a pain to install! comes with fm3/1150 and 2011 accessories.

Motherboard

Zero problems, would recommend!

Storage

It loads windows faster than it takes my tv to turn on.

Case

Right angle connectors and this case don't mix well, at least not for me.

Case cut me when I put on the window, 10/10.

But it it a beautiful case!

Wireless Network Adapter

Upon using this, I instantly had better download speeds than on my laptop 5MB/s vs 8.1MB/s It's worth every penny!

Keyboard

Works fine, no problems.

It does look like cable management is a pain, but it came out nice

vekspec 6 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

could use some tidying up lol

Libertysheep submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

my case really doesn't allow me to sort it, ive tried 12 times, its a case problem, just not enough room

Schraderbe1224 1 point 33 months ago

I too had trouble putting the 212 Evo! We had the same Mobo except mine was the gaming 3. Overall nice build, probably should have gone with an i5 and get a better graphic card but since it was out of stock the i7 works fine. Plus it is easier to change your graphic card later then to replace your CPU. Especially with that 212 Evo on it.

Libertysheep submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

yeah the evo was a lot bigger than i anticipated, ive seen reviews and installation guides on it but it was too awkward lol and yeah its easier to change a graphics card than a cpu. and the only reason I got the msi 5 instead of the 3 was because the 5 has SLI support while the 3 only has XFIRE

Schraderbe1224 1 point 32 months ago

yeah i messed up on the mobo....should have went with the gaming 5 since i have a gtx 960.....but I didn't see that when I bought it. Oh well I can get a 970 or 980 later on.

Libertysheep submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

I almost made the same mistake of getting the Gaming 3, but it does its job perfectly id imagine

blood, sweat and tears :-) After almost 12 years without upgrading a single part, i realize that on my own project pc too. Damn cables and all that stuff but we're happy guys now. I choose for the ASUS RADEON R9 270X 4Gb. I don't feel such big differences between AMD and Intel with performance. Benchmarks are benchmarks. The rest is what you see. congratulations with your beast :-)

MrFlamingNinjaGuy 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

You would feel a difference if you played minecraft and Arma with an i5 or i7 versus an Amd processor. You have to know from experience.

dccorreia 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

No doubt :-)

Libertysheep submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

I do kinda wish I saved for the 4GB model at the time, but the r9 270x is a great card all in all and thanks!

dccorreia 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Yes it is :-)

Well I originally was planning an i5, the 4690K to be precise, when I decided on Intel but it was out of stock so I just paid the extra money for the i7, I don't really regret it and yeah but I already had my gpu long before my cpu because it was on deal "£119" and its "£132.50" as of today

violetrainxx 2 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

^ true. i5 vs i7 is only like a 3fps difference in gaming.

dccorreia 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

what about AMD FX 8350 vs 6300 vs I5 vs i7....there are no big such differences in fact. Without OC you can have a great performance in a AMD against an OC version of an intel. 5, 10, 15FPS in a game like BF4 are peanuts.

MrFlamingNinjaGuy 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

Not really, i had an amd 8320 then upgraded to an i7 4790k and saw a matter of like 20 fps increase in a lot of the games that i play. AMD is more for budgeters, although the amd series is a great line of cps you just get what you pay for.

dccorreia 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

I agree with you. No doubt. If it worth the budget or not we pay for performance to get more a few fps's or more few seconds less to load a game or something else, it depends of what we want to pay for.

Did you read his comments? The i5 was not in stock, he got tired of waiting and bought the i7 instead. Who's to say they need a better graphics card? Depends on the games that are played.

vekspec 6 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

while i agree that it wouldn't really matter between i5/i7 (in this case, get what was available) I do agree he could have gotten a better graphics card. 270x is not bad, but it's a mid-range gpu. if he plans to do heavy gaming on it, a 270x won't cut it for many games unless he's just sticking it for the 300 series...

Libertysheep submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

I got the R9 270X because it was on sale at the time for £119 and as of today its £132.50 and yeah i'm waiting to see what the 300 brings, but so far my 270x works fine

sprinter461 7 Builds 0 points 33 months ago

He said everything he runs, runs at high/ultra. Why buy more card, if that one does everything you want, at the settings you are happy with?

vekspec 6 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

Still just doesn't seem balanced. It's like driving a Ferrari with a Toyota V6 Engine... While Neb9 is saying is he should driving a BMW with a V8 engine, which is more balanced... Shrug

MrFlamingNinjaGuy 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

I do not believe that Ferrari's come with those engines! Haha, im joking but you are correct, it is like driving a Koenigsegg on a 20mph highway, you just cannot do it

Libertysheep submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Thanks for taking the time to read what I have written, I mainly play PlanetSide 2 which the lowest fps I saw was 45-47 in big battles other wise the lowest i'll ever see is 59, but again thanks for actually reading!
