Description

Hi Everyone so This is my second Build but first High-End Gaming Computer I ever build for myself, and very excited, So I did build this beast using the intel core i7 8700k, i did pre-order the new i9 9900k but it was a bit late I ordered it on October 12th and was all gone, and was told by Amazon they wouldn't have it in stock till December or January 2019, but I did get the new Zotac RTX 2080 ti AMP it's a beast for sure, I went ahead and follow youtube vid and overclocked my cpu to 5.0Ghz, and no delidding due to voiding warranty, and checking temperatures, did upload here as well.

Now I do not regret staying with this cpu as i saw benchmarks and this and the new 9900k is only 1-3% difference in gaming while the other the 9900k beats this, I will be using this to play games in high settings in 144p, as you see I got new monitor, moved from 1080 to 144p my first curved monitor and really nice, and also programming, and VR which is one of the main reasons why I wanted to build this to try VR.

Oh and this is one of the benchmarks I got. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/11628266 UserBenchmarks: Game 164%, Desk 173%, Work 161% CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K - 107.7% GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti - 215.8% SSD: Samsung 970 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 512GB - 379.9% USB: TOSHIBA External USB 3.0 1TB - 5.7% RAM: G.SKILL F4 DDR4 3200 C16 2x16GB - 101.8% MBD: Asus ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (WI-FI AC) https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/29674140

UPDATE BENCHMARK

https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/29721497

oh and On my 8700k on 5.0Ghz it's on 1.36v it was on 1.35v but crashed doing one of the benchmarks so I raised it 1 more if it continues then I will go down to 4.9Ghz until its fully stable. I also got the monitor on 144HZ it is also G-sync

I still got a few things to work on and reorganize some cables since took me all day yesterday on October 21th had a few obstacles and the Noctua heatsink was a pain but in the end its all worth.

**UPDATE from 11/1/2018 After much researching ended up getting the Alienware AW3418DW 21.9 ratio and decided to mount the 32 inches one to use it primarily for watching youtube vids in full screen and anime, and on the Alienware I will be using it primary for gaming as the ultrawide does give many advantages like your surroundings, i posted updated pics this monitor can go up to 120HZ which beats the predator x34 I was choosing between and is a little bit better than the x34p just short things. I have to say I'm enjoying this news monitor, gets to 120HZ easily and so far Wolfenstein on this is awesome.

**UPDATE from 1/3/19 So 4 days ago My intel core 8700k cpu died even after checking temps, tried a diff motherboard and removed ram, reinstall bios it came that cpu died, so i contacted Intel, and It looks like due to inventory issues they told me they will refund the money I purchased from amazon, so they had validated my receipt.

While I did this process i got the new intel core i9 9900k with the new motherboard Aorus Z390 ultra since I needed to test the 8700k plus the maximus hero x had a few pins bin in other parts, not the cpu slot but like usb, now i have to say im very impress How well my temperatures are on 5GHZ way belong 80c and voltage i have it on 1.300V so far everything is working perfect.

I plan to also make a second built to not experience this terrbile experience of not using a high ending pc my next pc will be amd will wait for the new Zen series coming out so i will have both intel and amd.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Excellent air cooler thanks to this my CPU has good temps and quiet as well, the only issue was putting it in the first time was a pain after that it was easy.

Storage

Super fast to boot, it takes me to load windows 10 seconds at least, and loads my apps really fast, coming from an hdd so its a huge improvement.

Storage

Great hdd for storing everything else like videos, downloads, and other things while installing some games and important apps on the M.2 one.

Video Card

Great graphics card, first Zotac card I ever owned and have to say it's really fast, and kills any games I throw in there easily, can't wait for future drivers, I wanted at first the ASUS strix gtx 1080 ti Oc but it was too expensive and wasn't on stock then RTX came out and asus only had the dual fans one which it isn't as good seeing the bad reviews.

Another reason i got this card is to take advantage of VR as well.

Case

Great case, it's big, and it's perfect for this building like a lot of room and air filters in the bottom where my PSU is, in the front, and iI added 2 on top, plus great for cable management.

Power Supply

I ended up getting this over the 750w as it was for $10 more there was an offer so took advantage of it.

Case Fan

Great fans, I like how quiet they are and the white color is pretty nice.

Monitor

I love this monitor and the quality it's my first curved 31.5-inch monitor great for games and general, I haven't overclocked it to 165HZ yet but I have it on the 144HZ great monitor.

Speakers

Amazing speakers coming from a 4-year old speaker the bass in this is great, I have Sonic studio 3 and have it on theater mode and wow it sounds amazing.

Custom

This is a huge upgrade from my older desk this has a lot of room I have both my 31.2 and 34 inch ultra-wide monitor on this table and my desktop no complains matches my racing chair's color

Custom

Great and easy to install on the noctua air cooler to add a nice flavor to your built

Custom

They were easily to install and works perfect with my MOBO and syncs well with aura.

Heheh, nice build. Should've went with lower-profiled ram because of that noctua cooler.

Well the ram fit nice and because others recommendation it works perfectly especially for the tasks I'm going to be using it for its perfect size :).

Are you still getting the i9 9900k? I was thinking about slapping a NH-D15 on this chip but after checking the temps reviewers were getting I'm not too sure its a good idea. What do you think?

  • 1 point

Well personally the NH-D15 does an absolutely great job cooling my 8700k being a hot cpu as well without being delidded, so I think it shouldn't be an issue since you can turbo right to 5.0GHZ with no issues.

I'm still waiting and deciding if I will get it or not since in games it wont benefit me spending more money for just 1-3% in speed difference while 15% on other things maybe it isn't worth unless your coming from an older cpu if so then yes go for it.

Should've saved the money and got a 2700x.

Did you actually pay $1500 for 2080ti?

  • 1 point

Yes, the MSI trio was over $1880 while other Zotac from same model as mines were a bit expensive so ended up finding a deal, I prefer this than the dual fan GPUS

  • 1 point

Eh, $300 more than retail. Not the worst that I've seen. Probably was anxious to build his PC. Lol.

  • 1 point

I was! haha I wanted the MSI x TRIo for the nice RGB lights but it's not worth as Zotac has better overclocking and I was right I'm already on boost clock 1820MHz and 1966MHZ memory clock and still can go higher since temperature is still at max overload at 43C while playing Wolfstein 2 on Ultra high settings

very nice build, though with the uber expensive gpu I'm curious as to why you went with a 1440p monitor as opposed to a fully 4k monitor. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure the 2080ti could handle itself pretty well in 4k at high to medium settings since the 1080ti could.

It was hard to find a good size 4k monitor especially curved which I wanted to experiment plus their really expensive, moving from 1080 to 1440p it's still amazing, and this gpu will kill any games on it especially on VR, Next time if i find better deals i will mover to 4k monitor.

  • 1 point

ye, money was my first guess. still glad you're happy with 1440p though.

  • 1 point

Yes thank you, another thing is finding a G sync 4k monitor is hard all the 4k i saw on both amazon and newegg were all freesync which I wouldnt take advantage what G sync from my gpu offers

  • 1 point

Right now, it's cheap for a 4K monitor with a low refresh/response rate. What's the point of a 4K monitor if it moves slower than molasses?

It's stupidly expensive for a 4K monitor with a high refresh/response rate.

Probably costs manufacturers pennies to add these features, but costs us hundreds.

  • 1 point

It is! and all 4k Monitors that aren't too pricey are AMD Freesync and not g sync, plus looking at benchmarks this graphics card will kill all 1440p games so far I'm playing Wolfstein 2 on 144HZ and man I'm getting high amount of frames per second.

Love the build! If you ever consider upgrading to a bigger curved monitor with G-sync and a high refresh rate, take a look at the Acer Predator X34 34.0" 3440x1440 120Hz monitor (X34 Pbmiphzx). I've been very happy with mine.

Lol, sorry, but this has to be a troll.

He spent a couple hundred more than needed, but all 2080tis are going to perform on par with each other.

If you're saying he could've gotten a better gpu than a 2080ti in general, then you probably shouldn't be commenting on a PC site :P
