Description

UPDATE: Had to RMA motherboard because all rgb strips and headers stopped working, took 15 business days unlike the advertised 10. Asus support is INCOMPETENT and SLOW

This is just a small revision build from my first custom PC. Added an RGB strip and did some more cable management in the back, flipped some fans to improve airflow, etc.

Everything works great, and I'm really impressed with the CPU cooler. Bought it mainly for the Aura style, but it is very quiet and keeps the CPU cool even under a midrange OC.

Mainly use this for Resolve, gaming, and general stuff.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

OCed my 8600k to 5.0ghz just fine, max temps are about 89C under sustained full load at 5ghz

Motherboard

Motherboard works just fine, and BIOS is easy to navigate if you can stand having your cursor move extremely fast. In my board at least, the RGB headers and integrated RGB strip stopped responding to AURA after a few weeks, then suddenly after about a month of having the computer unplugged and (obviously) off, the headers and strip stopped working completely, not lighting up their strips or sending any voltage. After a lengthy call with ASUS support, realizing their reps are completely incompetent, getting an RMA and waiting 15 business days for my motherboard to arrive back, I finally have a working motherboard. For the time being.

Memory

It’s ram, what can I say. Really clean and not tacky with the RGB unlike some other brands like TEAM and Geil. Doesn’t always show up in AURA and usually won’t respond to commands from aura, but from my experience that is AURA being the piece of junk software it is, not this beautiful ram.

Storage

Just as fast as a 960 Evo from Samsung and nearly as fast as a 970 Evo, this thing is a beast for load times and cheaper than Samsung

Video Card

Quiet if you aren’t running fan at max and darn powerful (compared to my old GTX 1050)

Power Supply

Gets the job done, but can get a little loud during peak usage.

Operating System

Installation was easy, but just wish there was some option to turn off Microsoft's compelentary spyware during setup

Custom

Bright, RGB, and great length for the buck

Just get the extensions, they are like for $35 without the cable combs...

I've been thinking about those; but I'm not sure about the clearsnce/room in the back of the case without removing the HDD bays. I do agree they are a better option though.

No I don't think there would be a clearance issue since they are just extensions but it's up to you. +1 Deepcool and Asus Aura. Oh and how are your 1070ti temps?

Great actually. Idles at ~35C and maxes out with full fan speed at ~75C. With the fan at a somewhat quiet speed ~82C. When the fan on a FE is maxed it makes quite a whining noise which is audible over all the other maxed out fans.
