Description

This is my upgrade from a Ibuypower PC i5-2500k with a Pny GTX 970. It all started out with my buddy Chad asking what PC he should build, so I started to look. Little did I know I would end up building an entire new computer for my self in the process. DAMN HIM!

Case

I did a lot of looking around for a case and found the Define S. It's so open and easy to use...I love it. The theme of black and white originated from the case and motherboard. I have replaced the blue fan at bottom of case with a Corsair White LED 120 to match all lights.

CPU, Motherboard & RAM

I had a major debate about going with i7-6700k and i7-4790k. But in the end, price won out. The MSI Z97S Krait Edition SLI is a very nice looking board and was a great deal at Microcenter with CPU bundle. The Corsair Dominator Platinum was a splurge cuz of the look and how it lit up. I was going to get the upgrade kit for the ram but decided not to. Cpu cooling was a tough choice for me...I did not like how the tubes dangled, until I upgrade to full out water cooling system. The Cryorig C7 caught my eye with the black and white theme again and its low profile is a nice touch. I'm not yet into overclocking so this one is just as good as the stock fan. (Update-2019- Just installed a Cryorig H7 Plus to get lower temps.)

SSD & HDD

The PNY 240GB SSD was at first placed on the back of the case hidden, but after looking at the empty area where water cooling would go, I placed it up front...its nice that the mounting holes line up with the case slots for the water cooling. I added a PNY 480GB SSD to store all my Steam games and a Crucial 525 SSD for all other games, plus a 2TB SSHD to store everything else with the 1TB HDD for backing up.

SLI GTX 1080

I recently upgraded from two PNY GTX 970 to the awesome Asus Strix GTX 1080 in SLI. The Light show it gives is sweet. The HDj Squad logo (My DayZ group) I made is a magnet for a fridge that I ordered thru my photo lab for cheap!

Thank you V1tech.com for the PSU Cover!

Thank you coldzero.eu for the SSD and M.2 covers!

I have a 4790k as well and I was going to get the same CPU cooler, but I was afraid it was not going to cool it good enough, so I ended up going for the phanteks PH-TC12LS because it matchs my black and white build. How is the cryorig c7?

I've had no issues with it so far.

Thanks for the info. I like it because it does not cover up the two heatsinks on top of the z97s krait edition.

I see what you mean...any suggestions on a simple CPU load test program to check cooling?

I really don't know of any.

I tested it with CPUz stress test and it got a max of 71c 1800 rpm.

What happened to the side panel window? O.o

If you mean the first pic, that is the plastic that protects the window during shipping.

Great build! +1 what length did you have your sli bridge? I was wondering since I have a similar build want want to get a stiff sli bridge

Its a medium length. Go to http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/sli/bridges to choose the correct one for your set up. Thanks and good luck.
