Description

First put this PC together roughly 18 months ago as my first proper gaming computer. Have been adding some aesthetic upgrades since then including:

  • Custom RGB GPU Backplate
  • Custom Fan Grill
  • Red braided cables
  • Custom decal for GPU front plate
  • 5" LCD Screen to monitor temperatures
  • 6 LL120 RGB fans
  • An army of First Order Stormtroopers
  • Lego Tie Silencer

Few peripherals that aren't mentioned include:

  • Drevo Calibur Wireless Keyboard with custom Keycaps
  • Xbox Elite Controller
  • Lucid Sound LS30 Headset

Like most people, I expect that I will upgrade components over the next few years as they become outdated. As it stands, the rig is more than capable of running games at 4K/60fps which is exactly what I wanted.

Really happy with the results now so thought I would share an update post. I know that some of the components might seem like odd choices (mainly my choice of GPU) but I had no idea what I was doing when I first bought them all! Despite that, hope you like the theme of the build!

(For those interested, I have included some more photos which show how the build has developed aesthetically over the last year or so. Really interesting for me to see the first day it was completed vs now! https://imgur.com/a/vuxumpW )

Edit: Awesome to be featured and enjoying reading all your comments. Trying to respond where I can! I have added a few more photos of peripherals and different angles of the build. Some of them are a few months old so there’s some slight variations. Happy to add more if requested!

How many fps per storm trooper?

  • 9 points

By my calculations, roughly 1.82...

  • 5 points

shot hit/shot taken=fps

So 0? 0/100 is 0

Can you PLEASE link the 5" screen and any mounting gear you used? I have a 460x and would like to do that exactly! Thank you!

I used this YouTube tutorial:

https://youtu.be/RcNJA6V4tNY

Bought this screen:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M4KO567?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

And mounted to the PSU shroud using a couple sticky pads and a zip tie as an anchor. Not the most secure, but does the job!

My advice would be to buy a low profile HDMI cable and a screen that is powered by the HDMI alone.

Thank you! It looks better in your build than in the tutorial!

If the cables are facing the right can I just turn the screen around?

  • 1 point

Of course. It’s quite straight forward to rotate the screen to whatever angle you need using your OS. I’m guessing Windows?

Yes, thank you

Is the screen bright enough to be seen through the glass of a tinted glass panel like the one on the Corsair 500D?

But of course! Looks glorious! I just wish I was better at the game... Maybe I really was born to be a Stormtrooper!

Nah.. you don't like Star Wars AT ALL.. ;) ;)

I love this. The use of red in all the right places just makes it pop. And that fan grill is awesome!

You just need to buy the biggest LED Edison bulb you can find!

I actually made it! I found the X Wing model from my childhood when moving and thought it would look great in a terrarium.

I bought the “vase” on Amazon and a Terrarium kit on eBay. Threw in some fake red moss because, you know, the theme and voila!

Holy cow! AMAZING build! just wondering - did you get the back plate/fan grills from V1tech?

The backplate was from V1 but the fan grill was from a guy in Greece who prints them!

I'm laughing but in such a good way! This is epic. Not only the pc is a great build, the Corsair RAM looks nice in there. But the entire Star Wars theme is epic, right down to the backplate, and the x-wing in your plant. I love it! Congrats on the feature! +10!!!

Hello, Amazing build, how do you connect the small screen? can you give me the link for the display and the RGB backplate? Thank you, it looks amazing

  • 1 point

So, do you like Star Wars?

XD Probably one of the best themed builds I have seen. I've been considering putting in a stat monitoring screen exactly like the one you have here (when I get around to building my pc). My question is, what did you have to do to connect the HDMI cable? Did you have to run it back outside of the case to plug it into the GPU? or is there another way?

Power Supply doesn't match the Quality of the rest of the build for sure. $700 GPU, and 50 cent Power Supply to drive it.

EVGA G3, Corsair RMX, Seasonic Prime. Check Jonnyguru for Power Supply Reviews and please get something of higher quality for your system.

Thanks for Sharing !!

As you can see from the first photo here, the power supply is a Corsair RM 750X. I must have selected the wrong one when choosing the parts on this site.

Anyone hear about what happened to TechSource?

  • 3 points

yeah, sad to see that he can do the giveaway or the 15k pc anymore, I was wondering why he wasn't uploading part 2 of that. the aforementioned incident was likely the cause. also sad to see that his personal gaming rig was taken too, the one that took like 3 or 4 episodes to complete

I originally saw the idea on this YouTube video:

https://youtu.be/RcNJA6V4tNY

Might be worth starting there! If you have any questions, let me know! My advice would be to get a screen that can be powered by HDMI alone and get a low-profile or ribbon HDMI cable to run out the back of the case.

Haha, the terrarium? I actually made it so can’t give you somewhere to buy one! All I can say is that I had the X Wing from my childhood, bought the geometric vase from amazon and a terrarium kit on eBay.

You could probably make one yourself for ~£30.

I took a load of moss from my parents garden and bought some fake red moss to tie it in with the build as well.
