Description

It took me most of the day to build this, but it all worked on the first try. Everything works much better than any other PC I've used, and overall I love how it turned out. :D

Thanks for the help everyone!

I dig this. A lot. Especially the Define R4.

My only real complaint's with your cable management - specifically, wrapping one of your PCIe cables around the 24-pin cable, and running the CPU 8-pin across the motherboard. Is the cable not long enough to run behind the motherboard tray?

I tried that, but it wasn't long enough.

if that particular cables is the first out of that bottom hole, is flat against the motherboard tray and goes straight up to the hole at the top it would be long enough to plug it in and get it off the front of your motherboard. It can trap heat and attract dust which is bad.

you're making a completely inaccurate assumption. No, it would still not be long enough and i'm talking out of actual experience with the same PSU.

Thanks for bringing up a comment from 10 months ago but in all fairness I've worked with this same power supply and case more than 15 times in the last 10 months and I know for a fact it does reach if installed properly. if you need help and don't understand how it is supposed to be installed I am more than happy to show you.

in case you decide to check it out here is just one example of the same case and same power supply with the cable reaching the way I suggested it would: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/HZm

Another example with the same case and power supply:

http://pcpartpicker.com/b/Cmp

(EDited the 3rd example was not accurate)

And these were builds I could find quickly here on PCPartpicker to prove I was not inaccurately assuming it can be done let alone my personal experience with the same products. Hope this helps.

last one has an extention, second one you can not tell if it has. first one does seem to actually manage so i will look into it for the 4th time but so far i have no clue how to make it possible.

He has carpet.

Do a little audio research and I think you'll find that a subwoofer will perform better on carpet. Less vibration, little more dampening, all that nets a tighter bass response.

Just something I've learned from doing a lot of car and home theater audio.

+1 nice build, I wouldn't of changed anything. Well maybe the case, but looks are subjective lol. I was originally going to buy the 7870 xt for my build. but I figured there is no point of paying $250 for the 7870 xt, and $60 for Crysis 3. So I just bought the $290 sapphire 7950. and saved $20.

That 7870 XT makes me jealous...

How you finding the case? I am looking into buying one. Also we have the same speakers :P

Love the case, and its cheaper now then when I bought it.

Nice build. Vaguely similar to mine. I like that R4, too.

I really like the clean appearance of the case and your setup in general. Though looking at the inside, fans included, the case reminds me so much of an NZXT. Anyone know if there is a possibility the two companies are related or is it just coincidence?

YAY! Now let's benchmark the XT! :P

(Still waiting on my PSU. Bah.)

Man, I love that case! I used the define mini on mine, woulda liked to see it white. Very cool build.

I have the same power supply and the mobo power cable is a little short I had the same problem. And had to route it over mobo.

How is the GPU? I'm looking into buying it for a future build, Do you use it to play games? If so which games and what FPS do you get on what settings?

Apart from that it looks like a really nice build. I don't really know too much about the little parts like cable management or any of that but i do like your case

Nice system, but I'm curious as to why you'd build such a strong gamer and play it through such wimpy speakers....start saving, because I know through people who have replaced those that they won't last long.

Because he could be using a headset instead?

  • 1 point

Because most of the time I can't even really have the volume that high because my family uses the TV and other computers that are in the same room. Plus I didn't have enough money to get better ones after having to buy the desk, chair, monitor, and the keyboard and mouse.

That makes sense, why buy high-end speakers you can't turn up anyhow? Maybe someday you can throw on a decent 5.1 system and really enjoy your nice build.

  • 1 point

I see your points but your logic is a little skewed. First you point out that he purchased low-quality speakers, and then in response to him saying he can't turn them up too loud you question why he bought "high-end speakers" and suggest he buy even MORE expensive speakers that we won't be able to turn up...

Just thought I'd ask :P

  • 1 point

No, actually you misunderstood my last comment. It was a rhetorical question, like why would you buy high end speakers if you couldn't turn them up anyhow, meaning I realize the ones he bought served his current living arrangement. Then I was referring to someday getting a good pair if he had a space that allowed him to enjoy them. Didn't realize that comment would require an explanation.

Not everything translates as clearly as you hope it will over the internet. No need to get rude about it.

Thanks, I was thinking about getting a better GPU, but decided against it.

Despite what the other guy says, your GPU is perfectly fine and the LAST thing I would do is drop an SSD for a slightly better GPU. You'll miss the SSD and the satisfaction the nicer GPU brings won't be worth it.

Only thing I'd suggest is keeping an eye on that particular SSD. The 840s are nice from a performance aspect but have been known to have some issues.

I was originally thinking at the being of doing research to get a 7750 or 7770, so I think what I have now is a much better choice. Just saying.
