This has started off as a BTX to ATX conversion when I got the XPS 700 case as a freebie. I just wanted to tidy it up and use it for my PC. The conversion wasn't easy. Got a Lian-Li ATX Mobo tray, and with some difficulties I managed to actually attach the tray to the case, along with the modified back plate.
While I was working on that, a friend of mine suggested I convert it into a Honda Mugen case, knowing I'm a Honda enthusiast. I thought it was a great idea, so he did a couple of drawings for me.
The case received a CNC machine cut-out. It's the characters from Mugen's logo. All was to be kept in white scheme, with red, yellow and black involved, as Mugen's colours.
Because of different things going on in my life it took a long time to complete (although there are still some little tweaks to be done).
The red and yellow stripes on the case are vinyl stickers.
Braided cables in matching colours were ordered.
All components were bought with performance, but more importantly with looks in mind. It had to match the colour scheme. Went for everything red. It's not a gaming rig as such, so didn't need the best performance. It's a PC I work on, sometimes use it for gaming.
It has won me a Thread of the Month title on a UK Honda enthusiasts forum in April 2014 :) Link here
The GPU is upside down as you'd normally see it, but that's because it's an ATX motherboard mounted on the opposite side of the case (BTX way). So where normally you'd see the window on the left side of the case, mine is on the right.
I will try to complete the rest of small things shortly, and improve the cable management a bit (may need to spend a bit more money), and will upload more pics then. Have a better camera now as well so hopefully bit higher quality.
Any feedback appreciated!
