Description

My old PC died and I wanted to build something that would let me play on higher graphics settings. Originally I budgeted for something around $1k. Well this is what I ended up with.

I mostly play World of Tanks, but have a feeling I will be venturing out.

I'll add in some better pics when the new PSU cables arrive.

Any particular reason for the 4790S?

Sadly it was one of the first parts I purchased. Before I started real research. I know I should have got the K, right? Maybe I'll upgrade later.

Man now you really have me thinking. ... I see that prices have really dropped. I may be ditching the 'S' sooner than later.

It is basically just a power efficient version of the 4790/4790k, which results in less performance. You're good for now as it will not bottleneck any current single GPU/SLI/crossfire configuration on the market right now. Down the road if you find the need to overclock then the 4790k is your best bet, but for now, or even two or three years down the road, you're perfectly fine.

Sweet. Good to know. I know it's minor so I'm not going to sweat it for now as you suggest. can't believe I was worried about saving $30. since I started the building things I've purchased I've already thrown away a case and a water cooler. actually I didn't throw away their sitting here in their boxes. will eventually see eBay

Good luck with the build! What water cooler do you have?

Thanks!! Its my first build.

The one to sell is an Antec Kühler H2O 950. Paid $80 with shipping / taxes.

Oh I'm sure it'll be overkill, but I'm thinking this build can bring in some new games.

CoD bores me. Most of the slasher types do too.

When I started off I was only thinking I might spend $1k.

I'll find you on WoT when I return.

Relocated modem and lost network. ISP coming on Tuesday.

I should also receive the last of my power supply cables Tuesday. I'm dying to keep this thing going

Haha. Time spent is all.

Yes let's platoon.

I am going to finally hit the power button on this thing this evening. Hopefully everything works. I'll install the AVG, Malewarebytes, OS and update all the BIOS then finally download and install WoT. Guessing I should be ready to go by Monday.

Send a friend request.

I see since you wrote this you also appologized for not coming here often. Can I use the same excuse? haha!! I have not been here in soooooo long. Sorry.

I was just logging into WoT and thought.... oh crap I need to login to PartPicker to get your player name.

I will send you a friend invite. And then certainly we can platoon.
