Description

UPDATE - 1/15/2016 (More pics coming soon) I ended up going with the XFX R9 390. I got it for $304 with $30 rebate from Newegg. I also mount an extra 90mm fan inside the case along with Silverstone fan hub controller.

On the side notes, I've noticed those corsairs fans are becoming way too loud. I tried to adjust the fan speed in the BIOS but it hasn't improved much. The stock fan that came with the H60 hydro runs betwen 3000-4600rpms. I'm planning to go with Noctuas for the next upgrade.

My main focus of this build is to get the best out of my budget without sacrifice performance. Some of the parts I bought as used. The purpose of this build is for Graphic Design, and some light gaming. I'm not planning to over-cloking.

Processor: I was going to get the E3-1231 v3 at first, but then one of my friend was selling his 4790K at the same price, so I opted for the i7 instead.

Mobo: Again, I decided to go with an H97i for a better price, since I'm not planning to OC, there is no reason to buy Z97.

VGA: I'm planning to upgrade to a different PSU (EVGA G2) and better GPU at the end of this year, potentially GTX 980 or the R9 390.

Can't stop myself from loving the case

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 8 points 39 months ago

When I first saw this case, I was like "I WILL GET THIS" haha

ktrocks 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Only problem is the price...

WaterTriber 1 point 39 months ago

It's not as bad as the corsair 780t

Srtpower 1 Build 3 points 39 months ago

Looks like the picture is for the 904 Plus... but the model and price are for the 703.

auldae 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

That link gets you an Inwin 703. Just called Walmart. Tried to get them to sell me the case in the picture (904 plus - not even this build's case) for $65. Didn't work.

Digi7al_Trauma 1 Build 0 points 39 months ago

lol plus $77 shipping

auldae 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Try reading it again. It couldn't say FREE Shipping clearer. However, the picture doesn't match the model number. I'm afraid Srtpower is correct.

tiny_voices 4 Builds 3 points 39 months ago

I'd replace the PSU before you put a better GPU in there. The Corsair Cx are not very good PSUs.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 3 points 39 months ago

Agree, I'm planning to upgrade to a different PSU as well. Potentially the EVGA G2

tiny_voices 4 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Good choice.

Anything Antec, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA (G2,B2,GS) is recommended.

anthonyspanier 1 point 39 months ago

cooler master v series has great reviews from jonnyguru.

tiny_voices 4 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

But they are overpriced and not a good deal.

anthonyspanier 1 point 39 months ago

theyre at similar price points and wattage compared to everything else. how are they overpriced? cm v 750 watt at $99. the only cheaper option i see is evga supernova nex g1 750 watt at $90. (legitimately curious so I can be sure I know what PSUs to recommend to people)

anthonyspanier 1 point 39 months ago

this is the list im looking at btw. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/power-supply/#W=700,1600&e=4,5,6&m=11,14,39,50,52,57,63,71,101,331,337,441,448&p=1,2&sort=a9&page=1

let me know if I'm missing out on some good power supplies in this rough filter.

tiny_voices 4 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Correct, but very overpriced. You can get the exact same quality unit cheaper elsewhere.

TechyinAZ 14 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Unless you ABSOLUTELY NEED the Corsair Link capability the RMi has. :D

rhali8 2 Builds 3 points 39 months ago

Wow!

This build is really nice! +1

For your future - upgrading your GPU, I would recommend an R9 390 - it is cheaper than the 980 but has better performance!

ROG2000 0 points 39 months ago

In >1080p, but in FHD it's about the same, with the 980 getting a bit more performance in gaming.

rhali8 2 Builds 6 points 39 months ago

The 980 is more expensive, thus making the 390 a more suitable choice.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 3 points 39 months ago

I'm leaning toward the 390, better price and more VRAM (future proof). I'm waiting patiently for the price drop a bit on the XFX version. I just wish some vendors would put the LED on the sides :( like they did for the 290

UncleSteve32 1 Build 3 points 39 months ago

Do it yourself mh7850, and by the way ROG2000 there's no reason to go off.

Patgm193 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

Very nice case, which led strip did you end up using to light it up.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Wow, best price on the ATX version!

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

Thank you, I used the deepcool light strip from newegg.

Patgm193 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

Thanks

Meithen 2 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

That is a sweet case! I never get tired of seeing that thing being used.

Gamer_Rev0lution 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

that is the wrong pic. The case you can get at that link is actually the 703. not the 904 or 901.It would have been awesome if it was indeed the 904 because its worth 250 dollars :/

th3legitbeast 1 point 39 months ago

oh damn, if that was the right pic, itd be a great deal

MrEthernopian 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

You LED placement is amazing. Lighting = Aesthetics. I've seen some gorgeous build come with this case. If i ever scrounge up the cash/justification for a second comp, i'll be using this one.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thank you, I actually look at some of the builds on this case before I purchased the lights. There are two strips, I'm saving one in case the other one die :)

cool7141 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

this case makes me happy :)

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

"insert heart emoji"

EngineerAlex 2 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

This case is beautiful. Unfortunately, even for the full ATX version, the case provides limited airflow so keep this mind when selecting a GPU or you'll be faced with a loud PC with high GPU temps...

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I agree, I was able to fit 2*120mm fans. The case produces around 60 db from my meter reading. I'm thinking about going full water cooling CPU and GPU in the future..

ThePickleCat 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

That is a beautiful case

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Merci :)

NvidiaGirl 2 points 39 months ago

The case though! So SEXY!

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

United_cat_turf 2 points 39 months ago

I guess i'm the only one that dislikes the case :( nice build though :D +1

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I respect your opinions, thank you for the +1 :)

s.a.wood15 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

My goodness, it's beautiful. Everytime I see that case I'm awestruck. Well done, my good man.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thank you, much-appreciated man :)

gotenks85 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

A very nice Pc build, can't wait to see the updated version!

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thank you, I cant wait either :D

jheavner724 2 points 39 months ago

Awesome build, but I do have some remarks on what I might have changed. I love the case, but it kinda goes against your performance idea when you could have saved like $70 for a better GPU or more RAM, which could be useful for you. The liquid cooling is also probably overkill if you're not going to OC. I mean, it will get better temps, but the stock cooler will do the job. Everything else looks pretty great, though. Also, getting the 4790K for $250 and the GT 740 for free managed to get you a pretty beast build overall for the price.

The SSD is pretty sweet, too, but you'll probably want more storage in the future with a 1TB Barracuda HDD or something.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

The case doesn't give me a lot of options for cooling, only one 120mm on the front and one 90mm on the back. With that being said, I simply wanted all the parts to have a stable temp, and aesthetic (I agree it's overkill lol). I'm open for OC in the future but not for now. I'm saving some money toward the end of this year to get another stick of ram, upgrading to the 390, and def the 1TB. I might swap out for a 500 GB SSD that I have on my laptop.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions :)

190n 2 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Great looking build.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Cheers mate :)

vekspec 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

absolutely beauftiful build. agree with others, drop the CX psu, EVGA G2 is my go to psu, one of the best ranked.

question though, did you name this after the 918 Spyder? :)

anyways +1

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I'm glad someone finally see it. My absolute favorite car is Porsche and the 918 is just a masterpiece. Cant wait to get the G2 and the 390 xD

vekspec 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

I'm actually going to swap my psu in my second build for a G2. Something is up with the Seasonic. Windows keeps restarting randomly :(

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Ah that's unfortunate, is the seasonic still under warranty?

vekspec 3 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

yea but i found the issue, not the seasonic, it was the overclock, I wasn't providing enough voltage to it. bumped it up to 1.25v, so far ran GTA V for 2 hours, no crash :)

SwiggityDerpy 4 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Probably could've got a GTX 750 or R7 260X/360 for pennies more. :P

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I would have gone for the 750 but I wanted to save money toward the 390, so I decided to use what I had :)

SwiggityDerpy 4 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Ah, you already owned the 740 in question? Smart choice to use it then. Although, you might achieve only slightly worse performance by simply using your Intel IGP...

Russkie69 3 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

At first sight a theme song began to play in my head So Fresh So Clean, "Ain't nobody dope as me I'm dressed so fresh so clean (So fresh and so clean clean)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PbJM438eic

Everything just looks so beautiful. This is a really nice budget build, btw how did you get the case so cheap?

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

That song is DOPE, I was lucky to get a good deal off an auction on Ebay. I'm glad you like the build :)

rdguswiler 2 points 39 months ago

btw the actual price is around 1000$ don't fall for it

Tennis987 2 points 39 months ago

We can all agree that Inwin Cases are sexy.

DTX137 2 points 39 months ago

ngon :v

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

haha thanks anh :d

Rashiq 1 point 39 months ago

Any thoughts on a 980ti??

PSSSssss: You posted the wrong motherboard....
mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Not sure if I want to get 980ti, since it's way over my budget but we'll see. Thanks, just fixed it.

AlphaTech 1 point 39 months ago

other parts are great but consider upgrading the GPU?

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Yes, I'm planning to get a new graphic card toward the end of this year.

ToxikPurge 1 point 39 months ago

Nice case! Like other people have said, drop that PSU, I'd suggest a EVGA B2 or something nice from seasonic. Also I know you said light gaming but that GPU is pretty bad, id suggest a GTX 950.

ROG2000 3 points 39 months ago

I vote 380 for just a bit more cash. It is significantly better.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

I'm choosing between GTX980 and R9 390 :)

ROG2000 2 points 39 months ago

390 all the way.

Growliff1234 2 points 39 months ago

390x performs better than the 980 for less price, in America anyway. (First reply on built PC :D)

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

haha yeah, this is my first time I posted something on here, and also the first time that my build is being featured :P

Bluepengie 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

The 390 is supposed to be similar to a 970.The 390X is the competitor to the 980.

noap7 -1 points 39 months ago

980 ti for life!

vagabond139 5 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

I would say its fine for for light gaming, I'm using a APU and its been enough for heavy gaming.

mouzzampk2014 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Hiya! Which LEDs are you using? Nice build :)

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I'm using the deepcool light strip from Newegg :)

mouzzampk2014 2 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Thanks :)

jonesmbarry 1 point 39 months ago

Man that's a pretty case. Nice build.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks mate :)

ColoradoJones12 1 point 39 months ago

That is a very clean case and build, does the case have a 5.25" drive?

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I don't think it does, it does have a hidden bay for optical drive, but it only fits the compact one.

MylesRawr 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Very nice build, absolutely love that case. Great job.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks man, much appreciated

PytSkee 1 point 39 months ago

Loving that case, the light blue theme complements it nicely. I have the EVGA G2 and I recommend it, it's an excellent unit. I also got the 850 EVO (although I got the 500GB) on sale and it's been a good SSD.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks man, I got the 250 EVO for a good price, otherwise I would have gone with the 500 instead xD

Chiemela 1 point 39 months ago

Really Good quiality Build. With that processor and GPU nothing that that cant handle. Very intense build.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but thanks haha

Chiemela 1 point 39 months ago

It isn't xD

paintboy131 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

1738

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

I see what you did there :P

beardofsocrates 1 point 39 months ago

For the price, that case is freakin gorgeous! +1

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks man :)

seirif 1 point 39 months ago

Awesome looking build...what lighting strip are you using? Also, where did you find that case for $97?

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I was lucky to found the case off an auction on Ebay, I'm using Deepcool lighting strip from Newegg

Javanode 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Nice work! I better save this case for future builds. How did you get the Evo 850 for $65? that's a decent price!

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I got it from a friend for a good deal, I actually got the i7 and the ssd for $330 xD

Zarphos 1 point 39 months ago

Beautiful case, and I'm not going to criticize that GPU, it's the cheapest 4GB card around, makes sense. But, you spent money on a decent liquid cooler and aren't going to Overclock? That's a little odd. you also should have gotten dual channel RAM.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Being a m-itx case doesn't leave me with a lot of cooling options, that's the main reason why I decided to go with an aio. I'm open about overclocking but not for now, we'll see what the future will hold. I'm going to upgrade the ram, gpu, and the psu later this year :)

Redstone_Pro_73 1 point 39 months ago

When I saw the picture on the front page, I was all like, "Uhg, another $6,000 build showing off their money." But when I saw the part list I was like screaming "Yes! A good build!"

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I tried my best to get the best out of my small budget, i'm glad you like the build. Thank you

brent_the_rogue 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

I wanted to hate on this so bad with the graphics card and CPU difference, but you simply cannot.

1) You know what you are doing and have selected brilliant parts for exactly what you need.

2) That case is amazing.

3) Area code title? Nice to see someone else from the area whose knowledge is respectable!

+1.1 [because I never give less than 1.1]

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

Thank you, I tried to get the best out of my budget. I'm planning to upgrade the GPU in the future. The number on the title simply refers to the Porsche 918 Spyder, one of my absolute favorite car atm :)

bigg_critter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

love it! I think that is my favorite case currently on the market. so classy looking. +1 congrats

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. It's one of my favorite case as well :)

KENANTHONYREPAIR 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Nice and clean build

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks Ken :)

breakerion 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

citsolutions 18 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Really nice choice of case and parts. Glad to see Cooling mounted internally.

Looks almost as good as mine :)

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

Thank you, I'll have to go check out your build now :P

jamillgarcia 1 point 39 months ago

This case is so awesome! But how is cable management? The PSU cables looks very thight and almost no space for routing the 24 pin cable to the mobo...

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Cable management is not too bad, as long as you know what you doing. Since there are tempered glasses on both side, just have to be careful not breaking the glass. I actually have the extension for the 24 pin cable, I could have extended more if I want, but I decided to keep it that way simply for aesthetic :)

jamillgarcia 1 point 39 months ago

BTW where did you get that price on the ssd?

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I got a good deal from my friend :)

Pcjulian12343 1 point 39 months ago

Swap out the gpu its horrendus

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I know, it's still good for the time being. I'm going to get 390 at the end of this year

Secret78Agent_ 1 point 39 months ago

Love the case

Rylie59 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

It looks like a $1000 build. Good job

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thank you

Brandaglington 1 point 39 months ago

the 901's flaws and restrictions be damned, every time I see this case I want to do a build in it.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I agree, the hardest part was to fit the aio inside the case, it was a pain to work on. but I just love the case :)

bodmonblack 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Wasted case on ****** hardware

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I am IN LOVE with your computer case, good sir! :):):):)

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I'm glad you liked it, Thank you ;)

Lalith 1 point 39 months ago

Can the h97 mobo overclock

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I believe you can through bios update

Lalith 1 point 39 months ago

bios update as far as i know is not required

BattleDonkey 1 point 39 months ago

I don't agree with putting an i7 with such a weak gpu. You'd have been better served getting a cheaper processer and like a 770 or something, man.

SquareOreo 1 point 39 months ago

The thing the case needs to be beautiful is that future upgrade...A 980!!

Just so you know in the Inwin 918 a lot of gpu's don't fit from both the NVIDIA and AMD side. The ASUS,MSI cards defiantly won't fit.The gigabyte ones will. But the one that will look best imo is a referance 980!

jbinn 1 point 39 months ago

I love the look build is solid but the GPU has no price on here for some reason and 8GB of ram is not good for a workstation. My only 2 cents.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I didn't put the price on the GPU because I already have the card. I agree, I'm going to upgrade to 16 GB RAM later this year. :)

Zveir 9 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Slapping Sapphires Tri-X R9 Fury GPU into this case would be one of the sexiest decisions ever, since I think in this one rare situation having the power connectors halfway on the card would be the better decision. Especially since it color matches with your Mobo.

You should consider that strongly.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I'll take it in consideration, just wish they would come with a backplate for the price :P

Zveir 9 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

It does come with a backplate, it just covers the PCB which is half the length of the card :L

vough 1 point 38 months ago

How did you manage to mount the radiator internally? I have the same case and cooler but can only seem to mount it outside of the metal backplate.

alangta 1 point 33 months ago

hi, quick question. If I buy everything you have listed here, my computer would work, or would I need to buy something more to it? I know I need monitor, keyboard and mouse but Im asking for more stuff from the inside of the PC. Also I see it has online one storage. Would it be possbile to add another storage like this one?

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

ryanshome@gmail.com 1 point 32 months ago

Is that power supply okay with the 390 + i7 because that's what I'm buying aswell

braydendan 1 point 31 months ago

Does the MB support OC?

ROG2000 0 points 39 months ago

Definitely get the 390 over the 980, if you are doing anything above 1080p, for the 8GB of VRAM. Also, you should have gone with a Z97 for around the same price. I have a 3770K and an H60, and the default boost is 3.9GHz, but with the cooler it auto OCs to 4.2GHz. I DID NOT CHANGE ANY CPU OC SETTINGS. I am guessing you will be adding another 8GB stick of DRAM in the near future, since graphic design likes 16 or more to run fast (in >1080p). I will also assume you have external storage.

Besides these changes, I +1 this build for the CPU, Cooler, RAM, & Case.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I was looking for Z97i but couldn't find a good price off anywhere, so I went for the H97 instead. As for the GPU, I'm leaning toward the 390, I might get one if I can find a deal on Labor day. 16 GB is a must have for me so another 8GB will be on my list next. :)

ROG2000 2 points 39 months ago

Cool! I definitely recommend the 390, and will probably pick one up to replace my 290 (Windforce for Windforce).

I have seen some Z97s for around the same price (maybe $10 more) and your CPU would get a 10% boost. Again, you already have a decent build (except for the 740 but I see you already owned it) and it is working fine for you right now.

I have seen the 390 for about $310, maybe there will be a $280 deal going on, IDFK, but either way, have fun and +1

Stuart_Munto 2 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

I'm pretty sure most R9-390s are triple slot cards?? They wont fit in this case. You're better off getting a R9-380 or 970. Sweet build man, absolutely beautiful!

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Thanks man, I'll have to do more research on it, cause from what I've seen the XFX 390 should fit

ROG2000 1 point 39 months ago

Except for the Strix and Lightning, they are almost all dual slot.

citsolutions 18 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Most are as much as 2.5 slot which will fit snugly enough with room for some circulation. I had a triple slot R9 290 in same case and temps were around 65-68 when under any load such as gaming which was PCS+ version, its was 2.5 slot but ran nice and cool surprisingly.

The only issue with case and large graphics is the front placement of the 120mm.

You just need a decent card that runs cool, XFX isn't one I'm afraid. Sapphire is about your best bet, nitro is 2.5 slot, fits with decent temps. Windforce version of R9 390 is not so good, they ditched the triple fan for some unknown reason and it is noisy as hell. Sapphire Nitro R9 390 would be best pick of the bunch

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

That's a really helpful insights, thank you. My only concern with the Nitro is that it doesn't have the backplate cover. What do you think of Asus Strix?

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Yeah, I've read somewhere that said that I can update bios on the H97i and make it overclockable?

ROG2000 0 points 39 months ago

Interesting... I suppose if that doesn't work you can ask a friend to write (or yourself) a custom BIOS to overclock. If I had the money, I would do that to a 2699v3 and a custom watercooling radiator.

mh7850 submitter 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

I'm going to look into that. I would love to do a custom water-cooling on mine, wonder if I could extend the h60, add another radiator, and liquid for the GPU..
