A friend upgraded and offered me his leftover parts. I was itching to build and potentially needed another box as a home server so I graciously accepted the offer of parts. I ended up with:

  • InWin GT1
  • Intel i7 3770
  • Asus P8H77M
  • Corsair Vengeance 16gb
  • Deepcool Gammaxx 400
  • LG Optical drive

The case wasn't in the best shape and I knew I wanted something smaller (to fit inside an IKEA Kallax, thankfully M-ATX was helpful. I originally took a punt and ordered a GoldenField N2+ (Kolink Satellite Plus), and a Silverstone SFX PSU thinking I'd be able to shoehorn in the board like I had seen on Reddit. Luck wasn't on my side...

Back to the drawing board... enter the Sugo SG11. The only problem was the need to change the cooler....solved with a Noctua NH-L9x65. Then a raid of my parts bin....and the realisation that I could kill two birds with one stone (downsize Prodigy 2014 at the same time).

So some shuffling resulted in this.

It's small, unassuming and surprisingly powerful even today at the end of 2019. There's room to add more drives, and potentially some sound dampening and some fan swaps and GPU to come. For the moment, here's "poison ivy" the sleeper on the shelf.

Very nice. These older i7s still put up a fight.
