Description

This is my first NAS build i decided to do running on Ubuntu Server. Looking to stream movies locally and externally and will also be Torrent unit as well. Currently have Raspberry Pi3 running KODI what can stream movies from Storage.

Don't have ECC Compatibile mobo

Small Heat sink Fan provided with AMD 5350 Processor (as seen in photos)

This will be a headless unit.

Possibly hoping to do similar build separately for just web server soon.

Any recommendation/comments are welcomed

Do you have any cooling in this at all? I know its a low power setup but still some cooling would be better than none.

there is a 200mm intake in the front, plenty of air for this unit

11.99 4 pack of cooler master 120mm fans on the egg

The case only supports 80mm fans in the rear and a 200mm as mentioned previously.

It also supports a single 120mm or 140mm fan aft of the 200mm but isn't necessary at all for you application. I've built in this case many times.

Nice budget pc. I have a question: is it worth to upgrade a 5150 to a 5350? I have a 5150 and it lacks performance :/

Had you considered the Cooler Master Elite 110 chassis?? It supports mounting 4 3.5" HDDs and is a windowless case that's around the same size. Just seems better suited for a NAS build IMO, it's what I'm using at the moment.

i think at this point it would be wasted money. unless this case somehow fails to meet his needs i wouldnt spend the money on a new one.

Agreed. Just wondered if he knew about the case before going with this one. He's limited to two drives in the Core V1 where as the Elite 110 holds up to 4, and they are relatively the same size. It's just a shame that there is nothing exciting to look at under that clear panel lol! He could always re-purpose this case into a gaming rig and use the Elite 110 for the NAS and just switch everything over, that is if the budget allows of course. Food for thought. +1 for Mini ITX though, and the White V1 is still sexy!

A little late to the party, but this case can actually support four 3.5" drives and two 2.5" at the same time. Two additional 3.5" drives can be mounted to the top grill.

I'm using this case for my PlexBox atm. Thoroughly impressed by its capabilities.

Lol. You made it work but it's not originally intended for that. If aesthetics mean anything to him, I don't think he would want rubber grommets sticking up out the top of his case. The Elite 110 has true brackets to house 4 drives, not a make shift vent panel. It's pretty cool that you are able to get a few more drives in there none the less!

Nice, I got the same case wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl and leds!
