Wish I knew about PCPartPicker when I first built this 4+ years ago! My life would have been so much easier!
Some of the parts are so old apparently that they have been discontinued on Newegg. Times change fast.
At least two of the components listed are not accurate (tried finding the closest match possible) since I wasn't able to find them on the site:
1) Motherboard: I have the ASUS P5Q SE PLUS LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard. Here's the product page on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131347
2) Video Card: I have the SAPPHIRE 100259L Radeon HD 4870 512MB. Here's the product page on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102810
Some lessons learned post-build:
Went way overboard with the PSU wattage. I probably should have gone with 400W instead.
The Raidmax Smilodon case is enormous! It's such a pain to move around and there aren't any handles for convenient lifting. The front door panel was cool at first, but quickly became a gimmick. The blue LED lights though, are fun to show off especially with the see-through glass panel on the side!
Wish I had bought a CPU cooler at the beginning. I simply used the stock Intel heatsink/cooler which worked fine, but an extra $15 could've made a huge impact on the performance, reliability, and "loudness".
Motherboard is probably the single most important first decision you will have to make because it influences the rest of the components that you are able to use.
