Description

I've not run into any problems with this build, other than the fact that I purchased a 1080ti FTW3 and it died. The Gaming X has been amazing and I am debating upgrading to the new Gaming X Trio. I'm a Video Editor by trade, and Gamer by choice. This build allows me to do both with relative ease. I went with the red and black look because Darth Vader is bad ***...LOL. Just kidding...I chose it because it looks sleek as heck. Not to mention, it fits the description of Wifesbane...as my wife was seeing red when all my parts came in the mail...Then she started to enjoy gaming! I bought her a Strix 1070 powered laptop, she loves it and now games along side me! Gaming Couple = Win

Update: I sold my Gaming X and went with the Gaming X Trio. It looks 10x more beautiful.

Part Reviews

CPU

This CPU clocks in at 4.2GHz base. I've Overclocked it to 4.5, which I know is not crazy...but it's stable and works for me. I love this build and I think that it is completely worth the money.

CPU Cooler

This Cooler has been used on 2 builds. I love it. It was paired with an i7-4690k and an i7-7700k. It keeps my CPU cold as a Guinness in the fridge. I've ordered replacement fans for the Radiator, I wanted some lights as it is located in the front of my case. I recommend this cooler, it has worked well for me.

Motherboard

Aesthetically pleasing, responsive and the Bios navigation is a walk in the park. Any MSI Motherboard is worth the money, I highly recommend this product.

Memory

A little pricey, but they are aesthetically pleasing and that is half the battle.

Storage

This M.2 is worth the money. Invest wisely people! I love this thing.

Storage

This SSD is worth the money. Invest wisely people! I love this thing.

Storage

This HDD is extremely fast and I love it. I've had no issues and it fits snug in my tray!

Video Card

I recommend this card. It works flawlessly and looks amazing. I've clocked over 300 Hours on this card since installing it and I can say that it is definitely a worthy upgrade coming from the Gaming X 1080ti. It is quieter, more efficient and looks amazing!

Case

Fully Modular, what's not to love. The only issue I have is with the glass itself, my chair scuffed it up and I hate that. I've had other glass panels, haven't had this issue before. So Don't scuff it!

Awesome build! I love the pictures. How was the case to build in? I've debated buying it but am concerned about cable management/airflow. +1!

It actually is pretty easy to work with. The modular design is what sold me. I can make stuff fit without any issues. For instance, my GPU wouldn’t fit if I kept the case the way it was. I moved the Hard Drive mounts to the bottom section and now it fits perfectly. There is a lot of room to work with.

I fit a 1070 SeaHawk X in this case

That looks soo good! Wish i had the money for something like this (mainly the SSD). +1

I bought it in waves, parted out my old PC, used some of the parts I wanted from that build. I also sold my laptop, so money was re-used. I only spent around 1.5k when I put this one together.

Awesome build sir! My only recommendation is move the ram from slot 3, to the left to slot 2 so your MOBO can utilize the dual channel it supports :D keep up the great work!

Yeah, I did have it there. I tested the speed and it was the same. I just didn’t like how close my watercooling hoses were positioned.

How bad is the sag in the trio?

Orthoron submitter 4 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Not bad at all. It came with a brace. It's about the same as the Gaming X.

Are the fan LEDs on the Gaming X Trio only red, or do they also support RGB?

Orthoron submitter 4 Builds 1 point 8 months ago

Only the red RGB strip on the backplate is RGB. The other lights are just red LEDs. They look sick though.

Thanks for the info! They look great in your build, but I'm doing a black/green color scheme, so it wouldn't quite fit.
