Description
Hello everyone! Let me proudly present my build, The Fluffer! Named after how fluffy my dog is and I mean, when was being fluffy ever a bad thing? :P
Well, first things first, this was built about a month ago and I researched all of the parts myself closely before purchasing. As I live in Sweden (and the prices are MUCH higher here) I asked a friend in the States who was coming to visit if he could bring an extra suitcase with all of my goodies. The only thing that he couldn't bring was the case which you probably understand why...(too freaking big, so I actually had to get off my *** and go get that myself. Sigh First world problems...)
Also, this is meant to be used for gaming and not much else, but of course the occasional schoolwork drops by from time to time, but it handles Word like a boss (thank god for that!). I use it to play SMITE, Skyrim, Battlefield, Assassin's Creed, heavily modded Minecraft and some few other goodies. Now for the part choices:
CPU: Like i said, it's very gaming oriented and I didn't want to spend crazy bananas on it (although I do realise that it's an expensive machine). So I went for the i5 4670K and quite frankly I don't need more than what it's capable of handling. No complaints.
CPU Cooler: I wanted a watercooling solution partly because it's good but mostly because I really like the look of it. (Yes, that is important. I don't care what you say :P.) Price to performance on the H100i is great so I figured why not? This particular one is refurbished so I got it a bit cheaper. I know, kinda risky going with a refurbished watercooler, but I see it as a watercooler with some extra love worked into it! Still no leaks yet!
Motherboard: Had the features I wanted for a great price, so no biggy here. Also, dragons. Also, nice coulors.
RAM: Found a great deal on Amazon for this kit and grabbed it! Cheaper than their 1600 counterparts and fitted the coulorscheme perfectly as well which made me tear up inside (of joy that is)!
Storage: A SSD with good reputation for the OS and my favorite programs, and a big junkyard HDD full of my, well, junk.
Video Card: Wanted something beefy, that would last me a couple of decades. No, I'm joking, but I am hoping that it will last at least three years before I need to slam in another one. Stood between this and the ASUS one, but this was cheaper so I just followed the way of the wallet. Not regretting it yet at least so..yay!
Case: Ah, my big dilemma. I wanted to build in the new NZXT H440 case SO bad but it came over my budget. So I ended up with this fellow here and he is great! Offers plenty of room for cablemanagement and watercooling options for the future. Did I mention that he is sexy?
PSU: A good reliable brand with plenty of headroom when I upgrade to SLI. Case closed.
OS: Windows. Yeah. Went with 7 because...uhh..change is bad? Yeah, I'm gonna go with that.
Mouse: Love the look of it and the LED. Comfortable. Would recommend.
Keyboard: It was cheap. It's not mechanical but I don't care so much. It's still a good keyboard!
I know that my screen is outdated, but don't worry. I am going to upgrade soon, preferably a screen with G-Sync.
I have not OC'd yet, will learn soon when I get more time!
So, all in all, I am very happy with my build! For a first timer I think that I did decent. But I love to learn so all feedback is good feedback, it only means that the next build will be even better! I would like to thank all you guys here in the community for all your help and a special thanks too Mr. Carey Holzman (check out his YouTube channel).
Cheers! Here's a potato!
P.S. I know that my dogs eyes are glowing, but I think she looks cooler that way. Like a ferocious beast. Rawr.
