Nice little upgrade. I LOVE seeing people still using these little chips.. they're still extremely impressive :D

I'm personally still going to use my i7-2600k for another few more years to pair with my next SLI config.

Although I've had the 2600k for a few years already, it still handles things I throw at it. I'm upgrading to an i7-4790k and that'll hold me out for another few years until I find 5th generation Intel CPU's worthy to upgrade to.

I got it in 2011, might keep it till like.. 2016-2017 maybe 2018 haha. OverClock it 200Mhz/year and away I go :D

why the 2600k and not the 4790k?

I bought the 2600k when it first came out with a Sabertooth P67 mobo before 2013. This computer's build date was when I changed to the z77 mobo but kept the 2600k. I'm upgrading to the i7-4790k on a z97 mobo soon. Waiting for black friday or cyber monday deals to see when exactly is the best time.

Good thinking, that's what I'm going to do as well. I hope I can get my hands on a 970!
