Needed a PC for my son who is learning Blender through his school. With the great prices on Ryzen 2nd generation processors, I decided on the Ryzen 7 2700 CPU due to the 8 core, 16 threads. For what he needs this processor will be great for Blender rendering animations. Found numerous deals on such items as the MSI B450 Tomahawk motherboard (I have another system that uses the B350 which I love) and a great deal on 16GB of Crucial Ballstix Sport White DDR4-2666 memory allowed me to spend extra on other items such as Hyper 212 RGB heatsink, Corsair RMx 850 watt 80+ Gold fully modular power supply and Sapphire Radeon RX 590 8GB Nitro+SE graphics card. Add USB WIFI adapter, extra fan splitters, 4-80mm case fans, ADATA SSD 256GB hard drive with added white vinyl wrap, LED strips and USB 3.0 front panel hub bracket and ready for the install. Played Battlefield 4 and consistently got 140 FPS on Ultra settings while playing it on multiplayer.
Put all this into my 20 year old Chieftec Dragon ATX Tower case and brought this tank back to life!! I forgot how sturdy these old cases were made in the late 90's. Semi-modernized this case (left some of the hard drive trays in it for nostalgia) and really liked how it came out. Will add a Blueray burner for him later on but very impressed what I was able to build for around $800 that will last him for years.
