Description

I used to have a laptop that I got for Christmas from my grandmother, and that was fine until I started playing games. Then, I wanted to buy a pre made computer to just be faster and better at gaming. My parents told me they didn't want to buy a computer for me that will make me use it and game even more than I do already because I'm only 12 and they don't want me on the thing for hours. I discovered that you could build your own computer. They (my parents) said I could build one because It was "creative". I was nervous about building it for a while and when I got all of the parts my mom said I need to wait until Christmas, so that was really painful to wait for almost a month. :/

So, when opened all of the parts I couldn't wait anymore. The only problem I had when I was building the machine was that the Zalman Z9 case didn't come with any mounting trays for the HDD. So, I had to use the 3.5 to 2.5 inch SSD mount and turn the WD caviar blue sideways in the mount and screw it in. So other than that is was a problem free build.

I have only tried Minecraft but I am looking forward to getting more demanding games. I only have 1 problem with Minecraft. When I am trying to allocate more RAM to make the game run smoother I can only allocate 1600MB or I get an error. This error is common on 32-bit operating systems and I have a 64-bit so I don't know what is going on there. If any of u could help that would be nice. Also, my monitor is acting weird. When I am gaming and if I go into the options or of it is dark in-game there are these horizontal yellow lines that go up and down on the screen. It looks like when you take a video of an old monitor and it has the lines that go up and down on the screen. It is really annoying and I think we are gonna return it and get another of the same monitor. I like the monitor but it has those lines which make it annoying to play games.

Other that that the computer has been fantastic, I'm planning to over lock to the neighborhood of 4.2 Ghz, and I love the blue LED fan on the front. Please comment on what you think I should do for future upgrades or if I should have done anything different or whatever else!

Edit:I cannibalized my amd stock cooler and threw the fan at the bottom of the case in front of the psu. No screws just threw it in there. I can barely hear it too :)

Very nice build! +1

And regarding your minecraft problem make sure that you have the 64 bit version of java installed and not the 32 bit.

I installed the 64 bit Java, and I checked if it was working by going into an older version and putting the render distance on far. It said I had 32 bit Java still D:

R9 270's are cheaper and equivalent (if not better) than a 7870.

I got the 7870 a lot cheaper than a r9 270 when I bought it. Trust me I did my research.

You are spending way to much for the RAM, and you should be buying a less expensive CPU and a better GPU. Also, the Power supply is kind of overkill, and unless you really need the blu-ray support then you could save money there.

Also it doesnt include an OS, so thats an extra hunna bucks

An additional edit, you could easily go to a current gen haswell I3 (the 4130 and 4430 I3's are equivalent or better than AMD6300, AMD8320/8350)

I would build something like this, you can always up the I3 to an I5 later, but the extra performance from a 760 is huge.

So that is the closest I can get to a i5 with a i3

As far as I know, actually Newegg has a combo deal on a better I3 and a 750w powersupply for 135. They also have combo deals on an I5, but the 760 is much more important (for gaming) than an I5 is

Looks like a good build, you got a great deal on that 7870. DId you buy it before the Litecoin thing jacked the prices up?

You're parents are awesome. I am a freshman(14) and the laptop I use gets 15 fps in minecraft if I'm lucky. I talked to my dad about building my computer and he thinks it is a terrible idea. He also thinks I am going to screw something up and waste a $1000.

I bought it on Cyber Monday. I was also surprised it was so cheap, and I don't know why it is being raised so much now. Good luck on your build ;)

Do you have an $800 budget (now I'm excited too)

And what have you already bought, I am going to tell you that the Athalon x4 750K is the same as an a10 5800k with no inter grated graphics and it is a lot less money, second you don't need a h100i unless u r going for a world record oc. Get a Hyper 212 evo or my cooler xD, and spend the money you save on the graphics card! Any more questions ask me!

I get about 160-350 all day long. Never any lag or anything.
