Description

I use this for gaming, video editing for fun and just everyday use.

CPU: decided to go for the newest processor. and it works for me. 85 celcius at load is when i use prime95. if i leave real temp on the whole day after using it i never go above 75 Celsius

CPU cooler: wanted to custom water cool it but i decided that i will do that when i do my next build. so instead i just bought the h100i. it works well i changed the fans to the corsair sp120 high performance

Motherboard: i was debating between the msi z87-gd65 and the asus maximus vi hero. decided to go with the asus because i have heard good things about it

RAM: my dad had those already but he never used them so he sold them to me. i dont mind because he has helped and supported me with my decision with a lot of things.

Storage: also from my dad. got a small discount i think as i have seen them in the 60+ range

Video Card: I decided to go with MSI since it was suppose to be a good brand. couldnt decide between msi or evga. i think i should have gone with evga but it doesnt matter it works for me without any problems.

Case: i wanted the R4 but i didnt want one with a door. i also wanted a window and then i saw the midi r2 and yeah i like the case. also for me, the top of the r4 was kind of ugly since it had fan holes. the r2 had a covering which made it look nicer to me

PSU: i wanted something decently cheap and modular. maybe i should have gotten a 850 watt because i might sli later on but hopefully this will be enough. its quiet although i heard from people that it has a coil whine.

Os: got it on ebay for a really good price. and it works. i wasnt sure if i could trust people there lol. and its the full retail not oem

i tried my best at cable management. if i decide to change psu i will try to fix it even more or if i dont il try to when i add another 760. i dont want to redo it now since i dont have any zipties left so i will be ordering more later on. for now i think it will be decent.

the middle pic shows my room setup. i share rooms with a friend so i dont have that much room lol

i have a question. i feel air close to the mobo under the two fans on my h100i. fourth picture shows where and its towards the back close to the motherboard. is this normal or did i not do it right? i am sure i orientated it the right direction because when i stress test my cpu i can feel warm air going out the top or just having it idle i can feel air at the top too.

They make red and black kingston RAM :p

i know :p but its what my dad had so yeah it works and my red cathodes pretty much hide the blue so i dont mind

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VCZBN8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 i got it from frys but those are the ones i got. they sell it in dual package too i think like 2 ights and one module since it lets you use 2 er each blue box(idk what they are called lol)

Ok thank you, im doing a very similar build to you. With the midi r2 and black/red theme

oh nice! its pretty nice :p but id advise to get 2 and place one on the side of the hdd bay and the 5.25 drive like where i put mine. because the light doesnt reach very much. dont velcro them on just yet but experment with them on and placing them around the case to find the best place you like them

Good build overall and I love the colour scheme. However I would of gone with a 7970 and the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming but I think you did well.

  • 1 point

thanks haha and i do too. my 2 favorite colors lol. i guess that might have been better for the money but i grew up with intel and nvidia so i guess nvidia grew on me :p im not a fan boy of either but for me i felt that they would work for what i needed. and i probably did overspend on the motherboard :p oh well its a ROG board so its reliable. not saying MSI isnt but i can now say i have a ROG board lol

ROG boards are the best and they look so much cooler than anything but the black Gigabyte ones.

i still thing rog look better :p

Very good looking! I'm also doing a red and black color scheme build with the Arc Midi R2. I don't like the door on the R4 a single bit and the honeycomb front on the R2 looks pretty nice. How do you like it?

  • 1 point

thanks! and nice! its awesome haha i liked the door look but i dont want a door as it gets annoying to me :p. overall its a really nice case its pretty wide so you can put large cpu coolers without a problem think. and they also offset the screws on the top so you can but large radiators in without it being that much of a hassle if you have large heatsinks. love the hdd trays i never liked the plastic ones as they look cheap and feel flimsy but these are metal and you can remove the top 5 and position the bottom where you want it too. not that hard to work with either. just gotta make sure you can fit the cables in the side as i dont think its as much room as other cases would have given you but there is still ways you can make it fit easily. i thought of how after i zip tied them all lol i had cable running straight to everything but i never though that since i have more cable length than needed i could have made it curve to places where there were no cables so then i could have probably made it look a little bit nicer

What's that arrow pointing down mean? Airflow path? You realize that those fans are blowing air upwards right? I would keep the rad fans where they are, but flip the rear exhaust fan around.

  • 0 points

if you read my description you will know why i put that there. i feel air there even though i have it pointed up i dont know why i feel air and it is blowing down though but i feel air at the top too

They are moving air upwards, It will feel like they are moving the air the other way, but they really aren't. i would suggest flipping that rear exhaust fan around for more intake for the radiator fans.

  • 1 point

really? it causes some air to go down though? thats weird

  • 1 point

higher pressure than the opposing force?

what does that mean? is that bad?

very nice

Well, on my HaF 922 the front 200mm fan is pulling air inside of the case but I can still feel air when I put my hand over it. Maybe that's what's happening with your radiator.

Anyways, nice build and the color scheme is great too.

  • 1 point

i mean like front the front where it intakes? you can still feel air pushing out a little? but thanks!

  • 1 point

Yeah, whoops. I meant that when I put my hand on the front of the case (where it is located, plus the opposite direction that the fan is blowing air) I can still feel some air. Hope that answers it

i see okay ell that makes me feel better that it isnt just me :p i was just worried because i didnt want to take off the fans lol

Nice I did calculations it runs at 179 degrees Fahrenheit

haha but it doenst run that hot most of the time :p

Ya I bet if you are cold just run the stress test and heat up super fast!

lol why? are they bad?

Extremely poor quality, dangerous, cheaply manufactured.

  • 1 point

oh what would you reccomend then?

  • 1 point

A 30 cm Bitfenix connect led strip. Should be more than enough to light up the whole case. See my saber scout build.

  • 1 point

Oh okay il look at that thanks

  • 1 point

If I were you, I would hide that right cathode that is vertical so you cannot see it directly when you close the case. I think it will look a lot neater and that right now it takes away from the interior... great build though!

  • 1 point

its hard to though lol i have one at the bottom and the wire wont reach to the top

  • 1 point

You can attach it to stay on the back of your side panel next to the window, just be very careful when removing it. I suppose you could also just move it to the front of your case next to the front fan.

  • 1 point

I guess haha but idk il see

If you try it let me know! I would like to see that!

  • 1 point

Haha thanks! Except you have an ssd and 2 770 :(

  • 0 points

Why no SSD?

The H100i should be pulling air from inside your case and out the top. If not, then it's setup wrong.

  • 0 points

Plan on adding one. And technically there is no wrong way just one way that's better but it is setup like the pulling air from inside exhausting outside. If you read my description you will know what I was asking..

  • 0 points

Actually, there can be a wrong way and is a wrong way. Your H100i fans should be pulling air out. If not, then it's the wrong way.

No if you go watch Linus tech tips push or pulling there is not much difference
