my older laptop was having some issues and was almost obsolete anyway, so i decided that i wanted to build a new desktop, and i went what is probably a bit overkill for my needs but the computer is looking pretty good and i'm happy with it All the components worked fine immediately, however my CPU cooler makes a fair bit of noise. also to note is that the gigabyte 970 does have some coil whine (although not extremely loud) when light gaming, its only apparent in some uses though so its not too annoying. I also managed to get a stable overclock on the graphics card of 1520MHz core clock. i haven't overclocked the CPU much yet as i haven't had really any need to, nor the time yet.
Update: I've added some images of the new LED's as well as sleeved cable extensions, i figured out that my AIO cooler made ore noise then it had to, because it was not screwed in quite tight enough (i tightened it as much as i could with just my fingers this time), with it tighter it is now less noisy and performs a bit better. Also got a new keyboard; cooler master quickfire rapid I (brown switches). Update: added 3 cougar fans, rerouted led strips (much neater now). nzxt logo led went out so i replaced the led's with blue ones to match my build (not shown well in the images) Monitor is the lg34um57 but pcpp does not have it, the 67 is the same but with a different stand and built in speakers.
this motherboard looks great, and has tons of features, especially considering the price. the bios isn't my favorite but it still has all the options you need, my only problem i can think of is the fan headers, there is 2 pwm (4 pin) and 4 (3 pin) fan headers, of these the CPU fan headers are one of the 4 pins and one of the 3 pins, the mismatched fan headers wouldn't be much of a concern ( just use a fan hub) but the two CPU fan headers cannot be adjusted independently (as far as i can tell) this means if you want to run an AIO then you can max the pumps speed while letting the fans change speed.
As my first SSD i'm not disappointed with the speeds this can achieve, if you're in the same scenario then i would recommend it as its a massive improvement over a HDD, its well priced and looks great especially in a blue build. I'm not completely sure how well this does in relation to competitors, but reviewers seem to think pretty highly of it.
unfortunately i get some coil while on mine, i don't know how common this is but its annoying, also the memory on this card only OC's about 300mhz, where a lot of other cards will do 500, a few months on and my card no longer coil whines as much, haven't realy changed much componentry so.. interesting
Deserves 5 stars, much cheaper than anything else of the same quality on the market, packaging is outstanding, and this thing comes with all of the cables you will need (all black too). Plus a TEN year warranty!
So I had this keyboard for about 6 months, and many LEDs went out, this is a problem across what seems to be almost all of these keyboards, so if you are buying this you should expect it, it is a shame as otherwise this is a really nice keyboard.
